Nothing gives me “tired head” faster than the constant all or nothing debates that go on daily around here about Dak Prescott. For too many he’s the devil incarnate, not even as good as Cooper Rush, and 100% to blame for all ills not only in football but throughout mankind, lol. Perhaps foolishly, I’m going to wade into these waters.

It’s not even debatable at this point that Dak Prescott is having an outstanding year so far. Anyone who says otherwise in not being serious or fair. Without Dak, this team is bad.

And before I go any further, let me state upfront that multiple things can be true about many things in life, including NFL QBs. Here’s are some of those multiple truths:
  • Dak is paid too much. But so are many other NFL QBs. Some far less talented than he is.
  • Dak has not played well at times in the playoffs. Like the awful GB loss in Jan. 2024 or the last loss to the 49ers. But he has also played very well in the playoffs at times too. Even in a couple of losses. Some of those losses are on him; some aren’t.
  • Too many football fans think all playoff wins and losses are on the QB. As if missed tackles, missed blocks, dropped passes and blown coverages play no role in a loss.
  • Dak has stood out as having worked his butt off to be better as QB, to recover from two bad injuries, to be accountable for his paycheck and to give his team everything he has in his bag to win. Whatever anyone thinks about Dak or his paycheck he has worked as hard as any player I’ve seen to be as good as he can be. We’ve all seen many overpaid NFL players coast on their big contracts.
Dak Prescott is the unquestioned leader of this 3-3-1 football team that is what its record says it is so far: A team that has overachieved at times and been embarrassingly bad at others. But the Dallas Cowboys at least have a committed, hard working, excellent QB who may not be the best QB, but with the right support, he’s capable of winning playoff games as in plural.

One last point: Some fans on this forum will never respect Dak as the QB here. That’s ok because it’s an opinion forum. But in my opinion it’s neither a serious nor respectable argument to simply say “Dak sucks” because he’s 2-5 in the playoffs. Some of those with the loudest and most frequent speakers of that opinion are just pulling your chain.

Like or not, Dak Prescott is the unquestioned leader of this Cowboys team. He’s not perfect. But he is very good and without him this team would have zero chance.

Agree. And you can see how much the other players love Dak. Just look at the "sounds from the sidelines" videos, and see how players (both offense and defense) interact with Dak. I think it speaks volumes to his leadership.

In my opinion, anyone that refuses to acknowledge that Dak Prescott is playing incredibly well this year is being willfully ignorant.

And in doing so, it is an indictment of them and their credibility. Anyone that can’t admit the obvious can’t be taken seriously.

For sure. I was a Romo guy. But Dak has been really good too. I think some people forget the Drew Henson, Chad Hutchison days of QB Hell.

We're fortunate to have him. The Dak debates usually consist of reactionary simpletons and hyperbole.

That just doesn't interest me. Because I know better.

Rarely, do I even click on a Dak thread. But this is a good thread that reflects how I see it.

His play has been great. And ball placement has been accurate. Look at two of the catches Pickens made. Put where only he could catch then, and made fantastic catches. Seems he is hitting his receivers more in stride this year as well.

Remember when fans on here would say, throw a receiver open. Well, seems that he has been doing that much better than in the past.

As long as Dak performs this well and continues to perform well when and if we get into the playoffs again, the he is a hero.

if he come up short and freezes in the playoffs , as he has done in the past, then we will soon need other options.

The Dallas Cowboys are not all about Dak Prescott, we are about winning SB''s. If he can help us do that then he can be the next Staubach and Aikman... if not... thanks Dak, cya.

:hammer:

A friend go mine who hates Dak, hates Jerry, hates the Cowboys. He only likes the teams that are winning, yes, one of those bandwagon guys.

He even admitted to me yesterday how well Dak has looked.

I completely understand your feelings about a Dak thread. I typically avoid them too because they seem to instantly devolve into silliness.

As @Stash said earlier, at this point anyone refusing to acknowledge that Dak is playing well is just being willfully ignorant.

At this point, anyone who thinks Dak is the PRIMARY reason that Dallas has not made a playoff run in his tenure just refuses to see the truth and is too dug in to change.

Does he have faults? Oh yeah, definitely, but about 80% of the league would trade their guy for him in a heart beat. You can win with this player at the helm, it is just a matter of building a true team around him and that is squarely on the front office to deliver on. If MVP voting happened today, he wins it.

I think that Dak is seeing the game more clearly than ever. 7 games into the season, he has played at such a high level that this tells me that this is not a fluke. I think he has unlocked something in his game similarly to how Romo did in his last few years as starter.

that pickens throw was one of the best i've seen him make. he's unquestionably playing the best football of his career imo, and has a confidence to back it up. he's locked in and it's very impressive to see. hope it translates in the post season should they get there.

Yeah, I hate to break it to you but I knew this is what going to happen. no there is no conditions on how he plays in the playoffs. because you're forgetting in most of those losses we had no run game .no offensive line. a defense was shaky at best even in the ones, that they allegedly played well in ,they missed big plays, they had too many penalties, and you can't put that on the quarterback ,

you know how hard it is to play quarterback when you have no run gam,e your guys aren't getting separation, or your offensive line has 11 penalties he did not freeze there was nothing there.

We can't have a an adult conversation about the quarterback because you all keep saying he froze, or can't play well under pressure, in the playoffs That is a false comment ,and a bad narrative..

because all those games with context there were no run game in most of those losses you can't function with under 3 yards per carry no chunk plays, you can't function when your offensive line is putting you behind the chains or getting you rushed out of the pocket at the snap no holes no separation at times from the receivers other than Lamb and if you only have Lamb then they take you out of the game.. He has literally been caught in so many one dimensional football games where four down lineman literally beat our offensive line stop the run and played Max coverage you know that defense that Matt's trying to play right now while other teams are doing it at a high level meaning it's working and they usually do it because they know Prescott can beat them but no one else can so they just basically play a Max zone cover everything up and they're getting pressure with four guys They're stopping the run with four guys..
That's the truth that is not making excuses I watched all those games almost all of those losses that was what was going on and say 0 Prescott can't play again zone no Prescott can't play when nobody's open and there's no run game and they're getting beat with a 4 down line And I don't mean just kind of getting beat they are being embarrassed out physicaled....

This is a team game and will forever be a team game we're talking about his leadership and his willingness to work harder and keeping his body in shape and his mind right and fighting through all the hate and garbage just like your comment..

YOU Don't know football if you believe Prescott froze or didn't play well under pressure,

there is context I just mentioned it,

i'm not going to say it again he did not have the benefit of an Emmitt Smith and a defensive and offensive line you know playing well in the trenches you have to run well that's key that most games especially in the playoffs is you have to run the football and you have to be able to stop the run that means you have to be really good in the trenches Has never been that for Prescott in a playoff game that he has lost go look back they're all the same no run game 11 penalties constantly getting beat off the edges they are ruining the games and you only see oh Prescott didn't play well he has to overcome nonsense he has to overcome that play by everybody else is that your narrative?

Let me feed you some reality troy Aikman and Roger Staubach did not carry those teams That would be Tony Dorsett Emmitt Smith great offensive lines great fullbacks great defenses and Hall of Fame coaching staff that's the reality romo or Prescott got none of that in the playoffs yes they have had great teams in the regular season or at moments but they didn't show up in big games and that's why he looks bad....
