I know, I know...the Cowboys front office and coaches are helpless idiots...and we are doomed forever. I've heard it here 10,000 times here. Must be true. Nothing but stoooo'pid comes from the leadership team at the Star. The fans here know better, who can deny it?

So who am I to dish anything positive about the front office? I'll just say that recent Cowboy trades have been "interesting". Let's review.

--Starting Defensive End Robert Quinn for a 6th round pick. Now let's be clear...Quinn isn't a complete all-around-stud like Demarcus Lawrence. He doesn't play run and pass plays equally effective. But he does have 6 sacks in five games, and numerous other QB pressures. That's a premium attribute in today's pass-heavy league. When opponents pass...he's bringing it. Interesting.

--Amari Cooper for a 1st round draft pick that would have been late 1st round. Was there a receiver in the 2019 draft who compares? How many receivers of any age in the league compare to Coop? Six? Four? Interesting.

--Tavon Austin for 6th rounder. While Austin has had some injuries and his impact has been hit-and miss...getting him for just a 6th round pick? Yeah, interesting.

I'm not a Michael Bennett fan (at all). But given that what we are looking at is a 9 game rental for a very late conditional draft pick...and that we can cut him at any point w/out penalty...all I can say is...Interesting.

Really had to drive that point home.

Fans don’t know “better”. We’re just clearly more invested

The things we throw at the wall, or criticize, or fantasize about or lament aren’t out of delusions of knowing better, it’s borne from obsessing over this **** every minute of every day. I don’t think Stephen is in that boat

.

I think You are mistaking personnel issues with coaching issues.
We’ve actually been pretty masterful as drafting and acquiring talent of late, the trades you mentioned were just phenomenal trades. When it comes to utilizing that talent.....managing a game, getting a team ready, finding mismatches....win in the playoffs....that’s where we’ve struggled and most of the complaints on here pertain to.

I respectfully disagree. Stephen is focusing about the team more than anyone here. He's just not squandering time and energy with whining and nonsense.

He's reviewing scouting reports, analytics and coaching feedback. Talking possible trades with other teams.

For every trade that gets finalized there are a dozen possible deals that get bounced around.

We've struggled putting together the personnel/coaching combo to make deep playoff runs, no doubt about that. And sure there are some culture issues that play into that.

We’ve actually only just started getting competitive with veteran talent acquisition. We’ve been drafting well for a long time, but we weren’t making effective use of trades and VFA until last year. It’s showing up.

This team has the talent to be special. And the leadership.

Up until the 2018 draft, a big complaint people had with the FO is that they were incredibly passive with trades. Its good that they have become more agressive. There is a ton of great value in the trade market. Especially if you are a good team that is looking for an edge making a championship run

The Cooper trade stands out since we rarely trade high draft picks. We typically look for cheap high upside guys that are overlooked elsewhere.

Which brings us to why the Quinn and Bennett deals are so good. Typically we go for high pedigree guys who haven't panned out like Austin or ward. Or guys like mayowa who fit our mold and our scheme beautifully.

I don't expect the usual cockroaches to make an appearance in this thread. They don't want to be embarassed. They will lurk, but too afraid to post.

The FO is good, our idiot coaches haven't taken advantage of Jerry's greatness.
