This team is built to RUN

I'd also point out Deon Anderson has been phenomenal this season so far.

Stay healthy Cricket!

I agree I have been impressed by Anderson. He has been another one who has been dealing with the injury bug since he came to Dallas hopefully that is behind him and he continue to play ball as he has been doing thus far.

Except on 2nd and goal and 3rd and goal from 1 1/2 yard line.

Yeah but "Born to FADE PASS" isn't as catchy.

I think it depends even the 90's Cowboys if they came into a game where teams were going to stack up on Smith we made them pay with the passing game. I love the run and I like seeing this team be able to run with great efficiency but I also know that a team must be able to show good balance in their attack. Right now I like what I'm seeing for the most part. Yes we had a poor outing by Romo and last week to many penalties but this team is being able to move the ball pretty much at will right now using the run and the pass. I think as this team cleans up a few things this offense will produce a lot of points

I'm not saying that we should abandon the pass...not at all. I just think that since we are built to run (the o-line mainly) that we should utilize it more.

If you look at last week, we weren't balanced at all in the first half. We got better and made the ratio close in the second half....but they couldn't stop the run all night....just like the previous week. I'd like to see balance throughout the game....keep the defense guessing all night long. If we come out in a Shotgun without anybody in the backfield on something like a 3rd and short yardage....there's really no guessing what we are going to do and the defense just needs to play the pass. In those cases, if everybody is covered, I would like to see Romo get the sure thing by running for the first and getting down. Hate to see short yardage plays thrown into coverage....but then again, I can see where you'd want to call that play...just don't call it liberally. :)

I don't mind coming out in shotgun heck we have had some big runs using that formation. The 1st play in the game vs Carolina was a pass but a quick swing pass to Felix that picked up 10 yards. To me the run game does look like a pro version of a spread offense so when teams see us in shotgun they really do not know if we are going to throw or run the ball. I have to say I like it

Good point Wileedog. Absolutely true. Cricket looks better than last year, and is hitting hard.

As some of you have already posted,we need to take what the defense is willing to give up.Whether they give up the pass or the run it doesn't matter and likely will vary each week dependent upon the opponent.Just as long as this offense maintains some semblance of balance during games they should be fine(along with no stupid mistakes). Some of the play calling early in the game(as well as the goal line) has been criticized,I think Garrett is scripting early in the game to see what reaction he gets from the defense.

I love the shotgun formation...I like it most when we have at least one back in the backfield....and I love it when it is 3rd and long and we've gotta get a first down.

Having that guy in the backfield Romo can run a pump fake and then hand it off like we did on the Choice TD....or he can fake the hand-off and throw it down the field....best of both worlds there.

Yeah because it forces the LB and safety to look pass. Add to that we play that formation many times with the 2 TE but teams know these 2 TE are treats in the passing game. All in all I like what Garrett is doing, that does not mean out of 50 some odd or 60 plays I will agree with every single call but looking at the playcalling as a whole I like it alot and it is producing as this team is moving the ball
