I'm a big believer in the NFL season being a marathon of ebbs & flows. As disappointing as our start has been in some ways, the thing I like is how this team seems to be maintaining their unity, their resolve, and the commitment to improvement despite some painful losses and a resulting barrage of criticism from outside the organization.

With that said, here's 3 keys to 10-6, mostly in order...

Key #1 - No worse than a split in our next 4 games
Atlanta
Seattle
at Philly
at Green Bay

Key #2 - Must Wins
Oakland
both Skins games

Key #3 - Stretch run Split
at NYG
San Diego
at New Orleans
Philly

At this point, if we can maintain reasonable health, I think its doable even though perhaps difficult. There'll undoubtedly be surprises on both sides of the ledger. But I'm looking forward to the journey if the team and coaches hang tight with one another as they have despite shortcomings to this point.

they are going to stay lost since you have the blind leading the blind in Wade and Jerruh.

Good point.

As a coach and a team that is all you can do.

I once coached a youth team that started a season 2-2, and finished 12-3, winning the regular season and post season tournament championships.

It didn't look too good at 2-2, but all you can do is just "keep on keeping on" no matter what your record is or how you performed the previous game.

:laugh2:

That didn't take long.

But good post, Coco.

If we don't go atleast 3-1 in our next 4 I think they won't make the playoffs. we all know how these guys play when the pressure is on especially in December.

Good post. I agree that the team does seem focused on improving. Its not like they've given up or anything. It is, generally speaking, a good group of guys...hopefully that counts for something by the end of the year

So are 30-year-old stoners sleeping on their brother-in-law's couch.

You're right about having to sweep the Skins, though. I don't think we've done that for several years.

Mostly when we were really bad.

Hey, maybe there's hope! :D

If this team doesn't improve, it's gonna find itself all right...find itself watching the playoffs from their couches...again.

How anyone could say this team is on the upswing after the Kansas City game is beyond me.

3-2 > 2-2 = upswing.

KC is still an NFL team with a lot of vets. Even the 5-11 Cowboys of 2000-2002 beat a few playoff bound teams those years. Victories don't come easily in the NFL.

I think the OP's outlook is realistic...far more than those claiming 14-2 or 13-3.

...i don't know how or if they can do it but Dallas needs to be 7-4 or better heading into the Meadowlands...if not they will find it considerably difficult to reach the postseason...

Don't two negatives cancel each other out and make a positive?

I wish I could predict the next few games. Unfortunately, since this team truly is finding itself, I have no idea what the hell they will do. You don't know what offense, or defense will show up week to week...

In addition to this, you have your usual penalties....

I mean, heck, I really don't know.. I don't have a stinkin' clue.

Well, get Roy and possibly Felix back. Barber will be a lot healthier with 2 weeks off and the defensive has to have a least a little confidence with how they battled back and finished.

The KC game was ugly and awfully depressing for a good part of it but the team was able to turn it around.

That game was one this team typically loses. After getting jobbed by the refs, scored on to tie and losing the coin toss in overtime, historically Dallas would have called it a day.

I dunno. I feel better about the team this week than I did last week.

Guess I'd rather grit out an overtime win against a crappy team than **** out a last minute loss against undefeated teams. One takes a little spine and the other takes none.

Guess I'll go with a little spine over none.

I think our team feels better about themselves too. Hopefully that game was the start of our season going up instead of floundering.
