After every loss including the playoff game the coaches and players would say “this team lacked physicality & toughness”.

According to 3x SB winner Nate Newton, the coaching staff needs to implement more 1v1 and group drills to create competition and instill discipline in any bad techniques displayed.

What the Cowboys did in Nate's day is not allowed today. Teams get fines for practices that are too physical, etc. Coaches probably agree with him that there should be hitting, but they also know what they are limited to doing under the CBA.

The current CBA limits practice in ways that didn't exist in the 90s. That's all teams, not just the Cowboys.

Didn't the Cowboys and a couple of other teams get fined last summer for pratice violations?

This is the new NFL. Practices are supposed to be easy now. You're living in the past.

Exactly, it'd be nice if things like this for pros was a thing still, but it's not.

Frankly, while many of us wanted Jimmy to stay, I wonder how he'd have fared with how rapidly the NFL has changed since he retired. I'm not sure his disciplinary measures would have worked or been allowed today.
