This team reminds me of the 1991 team. That team was young, confident, skilled. They just needed to grow a little bit and learn. the following season, they did and we all saw the result. The 1991 team cruised through regular season, beat an overmatched older Chicago team and confidently went to Detroit and got their arsses handed to them.
the level of play, sense of urgency goes up in December and playoffs. this team is still stuck in the early regular season mode. and the rest of NFL, contenders are picking it up a couple of notches. Giants, Tampa (although young), GB, Ravens, Steelers, all have picked it up a notch.
so this is a learning experience. YOu have to be a little more accurate, you have to make the big plays, you have to be a little more daring and can't just play it safe. Dak has played it safe through the season, and now its time for play makers who dare. sink or swim. make the big plays and win the big games. The past three games the offense has been very average. our 3rd down conversion rate has declined. and the big plays aren't there any more. we have to lift it up a notch, but young teams haven't learned that yet.
I am not criticizing, but stating an opinion and observation.
with that said, I had argued about a month back with a friend, that when romo is ready, we need to put him back, despite the record. that boat left the dock. too late. we can't change because of one loss. but come playoff, the leash needs to be short. and we have to get romo in. playoff is due or die. and its not college, its not about the rankings. its about where you finish. nothing else matters.
