Mum was inconsolable.
I was numb from our offensive ineptness. And shaking me handsome oval head at a defense that is on par with the worst in our last 10 years.
But, mate, as the sun never sets on the British empire, neither does it set on Cowboy world. We soldier on (with apologies to our true soldiers who can't beat the insurgents).
We have to come to grips with a coaching staff who took the day off.
We have to grapple with a QB, who in the real world, would be a bench warmer in most NFL cities.
We need a team that believes in itself and does not believe it is Super Bowl material.
We need coordinators who DEMAND 110% AFTER EACH PLAY!
A HC who scowls on the sidelines like Jimmy Johnson on a bar day!
We need to SIT Dak and give him the message that come contract time, Jerry can pay him commensurate with a medium-talent QB, not a Mayfield or Mahomes!
Lastly, fans, we find ourselves caught in a web of darned if we do, darned if we dont.
We were on a winning streak after the half. Now we find ourselves in danger of picking late 20s in the second round.
Can we find a QB in thenext draft there?
No.
So dont pay Dak what his agent wants. Pay Dak what he deserves, second-tier monies.
And pray we can, in 2020, get a true QB talent.
The upside is the Cowboys getting a jolt of realism.
