I do have to chuckle at all the posters now trying to say that Micah wasn't that good or didn't deserve that much money or that the team is better off without him because he's a podcasting cancer, etc. It's an utterly predictable response from a group of people that struggles to admit reality here - the Cowboys are a poorly run franchise, with no real hope for a SB run in large part because of the guy we are stuck with. When you have no other option other than just live with the guy who is screwing this all up, you have to figure out ways to defend him and the Cowboys and then trash the collateral damage in his wake of bad decisions.
But make no mistake, this is all on Jerry. It all is. The 30 years of futile playoff performances. The constant soap opera that surrounds the Cowboys year after year. The flawed rosters. The "we are cap poor" cries while actually being cheap as hell. It's all his fault. Coaches have changed. Rosters have changed. Back office personnel has changed. What hasn't? Jerry and his bag of grass clippings he calls a son.
Is trading Parsons a bad decision? You can argue yes and no. Just the idea of trading away an elite player at a high premium position is crazy and just feels stupid. But.......... given where this thing headed, seems like the only option was to then dump the guy because it became obvious he didn't want to play for Jerry. But of course, the return was middling in the grand scheme of things because Jerry rarely ever wins a trade. And he backed himself into a corner on this as well, which surprise no one. Because that's what he does.
Jerry knew exactly what he was doing here. He was a prominent voice for the owners in negotiating the current CBA. He knew the rules. So when he says the agent here needed to be less sensitive, that's such a horse bleep comment. But it once again crystalizes that his own ego and arrogance were at play here and those are the two biggest reasons this franchise is becoming a joke.
Jerry knew that trying to negotiate behind the agent's back was risky. He didn't care despite knowing the rules. He also likely knew that while Parsons was engaging him when Jerry was trying to negotiate with just him, that Parsons would absolutely involve his agent at some point. Every star player would. So for Jerry to act bitter now when he claims he and Parsons seemed to have an understanding is such ridiculous blather. It's nothing but CYA for Jerry and his attempt to once again make the other guy out to be the bad guy here, when he was (and likely knows) was the bad guy. Of course, many of our fans will lap it up. Because they have no other option (or probably more accurately, don't care to think about other options).
And now, star/good players are going to be less likely to deal with Dallas in FA. Not that Dallas actually seems to want to spend money on star players in FA.
It really is sad at this point. And the fact the son seems cut from the same cloth is utterly depressing.
