This was the year to go all in

This is not a popular opinion, but here are the problems in Dallas keeping us from building a better roster:
  • Our FO has a good scouting system for drafting led by Will McClay. We are drafting much better than a decade ago which has infused some young talent from the draft.
  • BUT…Stephen Jones sees the salary cap as a wall and GMs like Les Snead of the rams, Jason Licht of the Bucs or Brett Veach of the chiefs- they all see the cap as a speed bump. They make aggressive moves. Stephen tells why we can’t.
  • SJ has turned Jerry from being a wildcatter oil man taking football chances to a billionaire tycoon who’s more interested in playing with his toy and counting his money than doing whatever it takes to win.
Because of McClay and our better drafts Jethro doesn’t have to Wildcat as much. He has a relative and interesting team without it he can hype and sell hope to the masses for with some stars. That’s his ingredients for success at the box office.

And he’s not afraid to get out in front publicly if he senses a dumpster fire. No one handles damage control better. What other owner has his own weekly radio show.

Fans are focused on winning championships. Not Jethro. He considers that extra gravy.

If he's what you seem to think he is, why was he playing football in Poland as recently as 2021?

I know a guy with his speed can run pass routes and get open again something that seems to be implied is in short supply as options for # 4.

Problems with this team

Front office - focus on making money and being flashy instead of winning Football games. Undermines the coaching staff because of the need for the spotlight and letting everyone know who is really in charge.

Offense - poorly coached and poor execution. Unable to adjust to the defense being played. QB who seems to fold in big moments.

Defense - scheme that is reliant on getting to the QB and getting turnovers. Players to focused on getting Sacks and takeaways and not focused on staying in there gaps and doing the dirty work. Need tougher hard nose players and less glory hounds.

Last year, we went 12-5, and had the #1 offense. Yes, we got beat in the first round of the playoffs, but our offense was a great offense. They should have spend the off season adding to the defense, just has they did, but they should have left the offense in tact. If anyone was traded/released, it should have been Gallup. When you really feel like you're close to a championship, you go all in!

I guess some of you dont understand what a salary cap is. Last year was about just trying to maintain what we had. Cowboys did a great job keeping who they needed and getting rid of those we didnt.

With Dak back the Cowboys offense is playing well. IF they sign OBJ I dont think anyone will complain. Only big compliant I have is they should have signed a stud DT FA up front. Never did that.

Dallas uses the same standard operating procedure they do every year. Nothing changes based on previous results. We can go back to 2016, we were 13-3. Great year, but they did nothing to build on that year. They just proceeded the same as if we were 3-13.

You'd think he could line up in the slot. If nothing else, his speed would take coverage away from other receivers. Maybe his route running is keeping him out of the offense? Speed is great unless it doesn't go where it's supposed to.

Turpin is 5'9" and weighs 152 pounds. If not for the USFL he'd still be playing football in Poland, which is what he was doing before it.

He's fast, but doesn't have an NFL body.
He is definitely a weapon in the return game that they would probably lose if he spent too much time on offense.

I DO wish they would consider using him as a decoy on offense more often though. Open up some runs inside maybe.

In a nutshell. This team needs new LB’s in the biggest way too. What’s funny is we got Barr late in the process. I wonder what their plan was had we not? Also, what if LVE goes down too?

Cowboys are 6-3 and in the thick of the playoff run. I guarantee you they aren’t giving up like you and many others here have.

No, this was not the year. We don't have the DLine yet. Until we build that up w/ real players, it will not be the year to go all in.

This was a mini rebuild year. Now, we need to concentrate on the DLine. When Jerry goes WR/CB in the first two rounds, you will then know that we are still at least one more year away.

It really depends on who's there when when we make our pick. When we reach for need, we get a Taco and a Trystan. We do need good DTs. Maybe use an early pick on a 1T if one is there. We've got a good group at DE.

Speaking of “ going all in “ I realize a return man is important but why hasn’t Turpin who had a pretty good college career catching passes not been utilized in the passing game at all. Isn’t this about using your roster to it’s max potential ? What are we holding back for ?
Agreed. He is a weapon , that is rotting except for a few plays. He needs more touches. Explosive plays. Makes no sense not getting him the rock
