This Weeks Good, Bad and Ugly

The Good:
*Julius Jones, another 100 yd game. He is quietly putting together a nice season. Here's hoping he stays healthy.
*McBriar has a 75 yard punt. Are you kidding?
*Owens with 3 TD's, two while making great adjustments to questionably thrown balls.
*Halftime adjustments? You mean we can do that?!?
*OMG, a ShotGun formation! What a novel idea!!
*Takeaways instead of giveaways.
*Washington and Philly both lost (is anybody wishing Peyton was still here?).
*Romo getting some action, standing in the pocket and taking the hit while delivering a pretty decent throw to Hurd.
*Great run defense by Dallas or bad running attack by Houston?

The Bad:
*Commentators bragging on how great the Dallas line was. Did they watch the Philly game? Shaun Ellis coming up with an interception? Read your notes!!
*Hey Greg, get up, you can run with it!
*Not much pass rush.
*Bledsoe hovering around 50% completions and only 168 yards?
*4 facemask penalties in the 1st quarter? That's gotta be a record.

The Ugly:
*Skyler Green fielding kicks. Could anybody look more uncomfortable. I cringed every time he got near one.
*Bledsoe's first pass play, sacked.
*3 points, at home, against a bad team after a brutal loss to a hated rival. Not good enough.
*Ugly only if you're a Houston fan, but Elam blowing up their last return was a thing of beauty if you're a real football fan. Great hit.

Bottom Line: Inconsistencies will doom this squad. Not TO, not Haley, but penalties, halfhearted effort and waiting until the game is half over to develop a killer instinct. They beat a team they should've beaten, but they have to start faster if they really want to contend.

I agree with most of it. But Bledsoe was over 60% I think.

Good observations...

The OL better play better than this next week or else Bledsoe is gonna get plastered into the field turf.

It's also a little harder to pass for hundreds of yards when your defense and special teams are giving you the ball at the opponents 30 yard line.

Only one of T.O.'s TDs was on a questionably thrown ball. The first was on a jump ball situation. You have to throw T.O. the ball in those situations. He is great at going up and getting it. I thought they should have run that same play last week on the final drive against Philly. They ran those kind of plays to Keyshawn when he was in Dallas.

The long T.O. pass was a questionable throw.

Heck, Romo's throw to T.O. was questionable in the sense that some will ask why Dallas was throwing that late in the game.

Our very immobile QB was sacked but twice and we had enormous success rushing the ball. Right...?

Green is a circus act. He keeps lurching for balls, even on fair catches.

VA fan...being sacked twice is not so much a huge deal, but Bledsoe just appears gunshy to me. He needs to have an extremely clean pocket in order to work. That being said, the Texans had pretty consistent pressure on Bledsoe, even if it was just two sacks.

So maybe, the major problem is not the OL, but Bledsoe. Whatever the case, I just get the feeling that Bledsoe needs to stay upright more. He almost looks like he's playing scared out there...

It was also questionable because it was a very inaccurate pass.
If he throws that in a closer game of significance, it could get picked.

Romo has a little Brett Favre in him. And I fear that by completing passes like that, he may just "believe" if he throws it up, the receiver will catch it.

That could be very dangerous.

Once again the Dallas Cowboys play one good half of football. As we expected, not many questions got answered today.

If memory serves, and I only got to see a couple LSU games, he seemed to have trouble wanting to run or look down the field before he got the ball.

I thought I also heard he had some troubles with fielding punts at LSU for that very reason.

I wasn't worried about the accuracy of Romo's pass to T.O. He put it up for T.O. to run under. There was no one from the Texans around. Now the ball for Hurd wasn't that great. Hurd made a great play on the ball, but that is one that could have been picked and I was surprised it did not fall incomplete.

Why was he even returning kicks? I thought he was a RB now? Can't Crayton return punts?

Not an excuse but he has looked weaker and slower since the first half of the Jacksonville game. I almost think he's playing hurt.

My bad.

I was thinking about Romo's pass to Hurd not TO.

The pass to TO was a beauty.

I was wondering why Green was in the game at running back for one play. Maybe they were setting up a trick play with him throwing the ball.

I was also surprised that Dallas had 5 1/2 receivers active for the game. I count Skyler as 1/2 receiver, 1/2 running back.

He probably was near 60% today, I didn't really look at his line. I do know he threw less than 200 yards. Granted, the running game and field position had alot to do with that.

My concern is this; they've played two good teams (Philly and Jacksonville), two bad teams (Houston and Tennessee) and a middle of the road Washington team and their season completion percentage is right around 50% (I think).
