This will not be a true test

Given Philly has nothing to lose and all the pressure is on Dallas, Dak better be careful as we remember the Philly days of Buddy Ryan wanting certain players targeted.....and if Dak goes down the season will not end well.

I wish I could say pull Dak in the early 4th quarter if we have a comfortable lead...but lately the leads haven't stayed comfortable

This game matters very little to the Eagles standings wise.

If I were the Eagles I would not run any new schemes that the Cowboys have not already seen nor would I give them the ability to practice against the Eagles' offense and defense on plays that they feel are key to exploiting the Cowboys weaknesses.

If anything, I would run a vanilla offense and throw in a few random new plays and even trick plays to see how effective they are against the Cowboys.

In other words, the Eagles have a golden opportunity to learn things about the Cowboys offense and defense, especially the changes since the last time they played each other earlier this season, while the Cowboys get very little game tape for a potential third game match-up in the playoffs.

Jalen being out provides a great opportunity to the Eagles because if they win without Jalen, they will know they are the better team and if they lose, it will be because their starting quarterback was out.

I hope we win, but COMPLETELY disagree with your opinion.
This will be a stiff challenge for both our offense and defense. Of course Minchew is not the runner Hurts is, but he can still run their RPO offense.
There defense is healthy and has been looking very good. 18 sacks in the last 3 games!

I do agree with the OP for the most part. I'm just not sure they'll revert to being something like a 7-10 team. If nothing else, their D is better. That offense really does rely on Hurts and his run game.

But even if everything he said is true, that doesn't guarantee us a win. After all, 3 out of our 4 losses came to teams that have a losing record right now.

And so the narrative begins that if the Cowboys win it forms with an asterisk and doesn’t mean as much. So then that means the eagles win against us earlier this year wasn’t a true test because Dak was out. I say BS! If we win today it’s a passed test as the eagles have a lot riding on this game and still have a very talented team.
Well if we lose…that’s not good.

The Eagles have defied the odds all year running a high school offense that is solely dependent on the quarterback to succeed, but the odds caught up with them when Hurts was injured.
Gardner Minshew will force the Eagles to run a prototypical offense, and as good as he may be they aren't practiced in it well enough to excel.
The Eagles will revert to the 7-10 team they really are, and if Hurts goes down again they will be done.
So the Cowboys should win this game, as the Eagles learn the hard way what the Ravens and the Falcons of the Michael Vick era already knew- you can't run a high school offense in the NFL. When you allow your quarterback to be the entire offense it may wirk for a time, but that exposes him to injury and when he goes down your team is without their starting quarterback- as well as the offense he ran.
The Cowboys defense won't need to respect Minshew in the run game, and will be able to pass rush with the fierceness they love.
This is not a rematch of the Eagles game earlier in the year. The Eagles know they will lose.
The Eagles defense hasn't been forced to carry their team for an entire game. It will be interesting to see how cocky they are by the fourth quarter.
I hope Lucy pulls the football and you fall on your butt! Lol

And of course, no such opportunities are/will be available for the Cowboys, and if so, the Dallas coaches will just screw it up (Derp). Win or lose, nothing helps the Cowboys, and the Eagles are better, so isn’t this game a waste of time?

Unfortunately, I think it's still relevant.

The Cowboys need to clinch the 5th seed and until that happens, every game matters.

Because injuries can happen and players can have bad games, you cannot assume the Cowboys will win any remaining games so they have to treat each game as important.

The Cowboys magic number right now for the 5th seed is 2. They need any combination of 2 of wins by the Cowboys and/or losses by the Giants.

Until that happens, every game matters.

Every game is a test. Wake up and get off the Madden game.

Eagles will still win, by a lot. They are better in offense and defense. Minshew is no bum.

So if you are wrong then please post your apologies in a thread after the game.
Apologies for what? The Eagles will be a lot weaker today; that's a fact.
Whether not the Cowboys can exploit that is up to them.

A “just in case Dallas wins” thread. This way, if the Cowboys do win, it wasn’t a “big” win and means nothing.

If Dallas does win, then “they should have”. If Dallas loses, then “they suck not being able to beat a depleted Philly squad at home”.

Par for the course…

If the Eagles are clearly weaker today, than that just shows Jalen is in fact the MVP of the league without him in the lineup. The rest of their team is pretty healthy so I don't think there will be a major drop off , because of how good their team actually is.

with our run defense, they are going to run the ball down our throat, then make a few key passes here and there.
their defense, a top 5 defense, good against the pass, tops in Ints, Int%, Y/A, YPC, Sacks 2nd in QB hits...and now one of the better ones in the past few games against the run...

and given we have a penchant to choke in big moments, coach, OC, WRs, QB, defense giving up big plays in big moments. we are going to get slaughtered in preparation for playoffs.

they are a team rising. we are a team sinking fast and in panic mode, given players have to pump up the talks to pump themselves up....this is the moment you shut your yap, go out and play, not talk to media and give bulletin board material (do you hear me Micah?)

Both are true though. Not sure why folks are in denial about this other than they fear a loss today which would look bad for us. We should win and then I hope we meet in the playoffs with both starting QBs to make it intriguing because unless they both start, our games with them are not a fully known quantity.
