This year's 40 yard dash record threat

how often has the top guy in the 40 at the combine amounted to much?

Depends on how you measure success. Of the top 10 (12 total with ties) Johnson was the only real elite player. Woolen and Marquis Goodwin have been pretty good and DJ Turner has been respectable. Jury is still out in Xavier Worthy.

Of those 12 I think Johnson and Woolen are the only ones to make Pro Bowls

Cant find a year by year list I can link, but Gemini listed them, and its about the same type of results as the top 12. Johnson and MJD being the only really stars. Some respectable players. Decent amount of nobody's

Rudi Johnson has the top 40 time when he came out. Weird

its not as bad as if you were to look at the top performers in the bench press. Just another example of why the underwear olympics are over rated. The area that matters is the interviews; not the events.

Tyreek Hill probably would have been on that list but he wasn't invited to the combine because of a college dv issue. Impressed at a pro day and chiefs used a 5th round pick on him. Locals were upset about drafting him. The GM even had to get permission from the owner to draft him.
