When it became time for Cedric Thornton to seriously entertain offers from other teams, the free agent turned to one of the few people he trusts to make the right decision.

His eight-year old son, of course.

Cedric Jr. didn’t hesitate, immediately telling his father:

“Dallas. We’re going to Dallas.”

The elder Thornton was fine with that, knowing there was mutual interest between the two sides.

The next time his phone rang, about 30 minutes after his son’s prediction, Thornton answered, only to have head coach Jason Garrett on the other line.

“I knew then I was destined to be here,” Thornton said. “My son is running up and down the stairs saying,” I told you so. I told you it was Dallas.’ So after that, I decided I wasn’t going to do other visits. And the rest is history.”

Thornton arrived at Valley Ranch for a visit and even told the Cowboys he wasn’t leaving the building without a deal. The Cowboys signed him to a four-year, $17 million deal that includes $6 million guaranteed.

Gotta love players who actually want to be here and play for this team instead of just seeking the next paycheck.

I understand that the NFL is a business and players want to make all the money they can, but football is also a game of motivation and I want players who desire to wear the star ... even if it's because they feel destined to be here.

Between this guy and Alfred Morris at least we're getting some high character guys in the locker room. I think it can help change the team's attitude.

Not even close.

I'm pretty confident that a line of a healthy Hardy, Gregory, Lawrence, Thornton, Mayowa, Crawford, and a 1st or 2nd round draft pick can stand a chance against our o-line.

Here are Dallas' main upgrades from last year,,so far
Romo >>>> anything they had
Dez >>>>anth9ng they had
Scandrick >> anything they had
Thornton >> Hayden
RB quiver > last year...somewhat

others who should improve from last year to this year

Byron Jones >> last year
La'el Collins >> last year
Gregory 12 games > Gregory last year
D Lawrence > last year
T Crawford?...not sure but hopeful

losing Hardy's production is still an issue, but otherwise, the team is greatly improved from what they had to play with last year

Still need a couple fo FA moves or trades
Still need to not blow this opportunity to upgrade with high draft picks.

het Hardy back AND draft Bosa, then you have my attention that the DL is getting closer to the OL

My god with some of you guys and Hardy. It isn't going to happen nor should it. Bosa is vastly overrated. Go watch some tape of his games vs VERY good Olines: he doesn't flash at all.

Why would you be not sure on Crawford? He played with one arm last year.
