NONE of our secondary have ever been known for causing turnovers in any number. Last year was an outlier- this year it has returned to norm.
You should never have as a cornerstone of your defensive philosophy an EXECTANCY for turnovers. That ball is shaped funny and will take strange bounces. One year they go your way and the next they don't.

meant to say consistent but sometimes what you type does not show up on the screen.

Not playing zone certainly does not help either. But none of these guys are any good at it anyway!

Currently -9 in turnover ratio.

2014 ratio was +6
2013 ratio was +8
2012 ratio was -13
2011 ratio was +4
2010 ratio was even at 0

Not to mention Sean Lee has disappeared.

Turnovers actually are things that are coachable. Stripping the ball, covering the ball, positioning DBs so they can look inside at the QB. Given how important they are to winning games, I have no issues building the defense around that whatsoever. It's been killer trying to win games with zero takeaways during this stretch, though. Not sure I've seen anything like it in Dallas.

Thru 7 games only 4.5% of our opponents drives have ended in a turnover (dead last; league avg is around 12%). If that doesn't change we aren't going to beat anybody.

To expect many forced turnover from the players current manning the Cowboys secondary is just hopes and prayers.

I seriously doubt there is a starting 4 secondary in the entire NFL who is worse at getting their hands on the ball and force turn-overs (INTs or forced fumbles):

Career forced turn-over yearly averages for the Cowboys starting 4 DBs:
  • Claiborne averages 1 INT and 0.25 forced fumbles per year (a total 1 in his 4 year career)
  • Carr 1.75 INTs per year and 0.125 forced fumbles per year (a total 1 in his 8 year career)
  • Church 0.5 INTs and 0.83 forced fumbles per year
  • Wilcox 1.33 INTs and 0.33 force fumbles per year (a total of 1 in his 3 year career)

That's the story of the season right there. We dominated them defensively again yesterday just like the first game and on offense, just like the first game. But we turned the ball over and they didn't. It's really that simple.

Fixed.

It's not just the secondary with the late of Turn Overs.

As you have stated, we have seen that for years.

However we have had a lack of Turnovers from the LBs and DTs that we were getting at times in the recent seasons.

Something Sean Lee was good about doing when healthy but I think the change in position has changed his INT numbers.

This team is doom. No production from the D, ST is a joke and our offense can scrore a TD to save their lives. This is how you go 0-4 real quick.... 2-4 in our case.
