Just finished watching that replay and a few things came to mind:

1. Our O-Line stunk in that game.
Romo had very little time to throw throughout the game and was hit relentlessly. He fumbled a number of times and almost every time it was when he was rolling to his left and he was hit from the backside, meaning the pass rusher came from Columbo's side. Both OTs struggled with their speed rushers and Martellus Bennett looked lost trying to help out. Barber also had trouble pass protecting and seemed to be able to no more than chip a guy as he was coming in. They tried Deon Anderson and he fared a little better but took poor angles a couple of times.

We've got to improve our pass protection. Romo needs to go back to getting the ball out quickly like he did in 2007. That mans Garrett has to redesign the offense to utilize quicker hitting pass plays and not look for the big play every time we pass the ball. The short passing game was what worked best against the Cards.

Some of that is down and distance, we continue to put ourselves in long yardage situations with dumb penalties and mistakes. Romo tends to fumble when he is hit as he is looking to throw. He needs to put the ball away and run for it or throw it away if there is no one open. He is holding the ball in his hand looking to throw and needs to tuck it away while scrambling. That can be fixed though.

2. DeMarcus Ware is a BEAST! He was everywhere in that game. We hit Warner a number of times but Ware's sack near the end of regulation gave us the chance to tie the game up. I expect another monster year from him this season. Our front 7 played very well in this game and kept their running game from ever getting on track. Plus they harassed Warner all day.

3. Our DBs played poorly in that game. Henry was awful and Adam Jones was schooled by Fitzgerald and Breaston seemingly at will. Glad both those guys are gone. Scandrick tackled very poorly in that game but by the season's end he had improved a lot. I'm looking forward to Newman, Jenkins, and Scandrick being in the defensive backfield.

4. Barber and Felix Jones are outstanding! I can't wait to see these guys on the field again! Barber ran with determination and was excellent in the passing game. Felix is so darn quick it is scary. The combination of those two plus Choice should give us a very effective running game. Provided they stay healthy and our O-Line can block for them consistently.

5. Losing McBriar really hurt us. His ability to hang the ball or place it was truly missed once he went down. We missed Felix on returns as well once he went out. Hopefully our STs will be much improved this season with Read finally gone and some guys healthy again. Our defense played pretty well for the most part but those two STs TDs by the Cards to start and end the game were the difference.

6. Romo showed once again that he is very good in the clutch.
I don't know where this myth came from that somehow he is the one who has let the team down but it isn't true at all. This game was proof of that as he rallied the team and brought us back to tie it after being down 10 with 3 minutes to go. He still has some things to improve on, as I mentioned above, but this guy is really good! He is at his best in the hurry-up.

This loss cost us the season IMO as we lost Romo for a few weeks, McBrair for the season, and it was where we started to see some dissension among the players. We could still have made the playoffs with a win against the Eagles at the end but I doubt we would have gone very far.

This is the "3rd & 17" game. Defense stops a 3rd and 17 instead of letting a give up dump off pass to a RB in the flat then the OT, blocked punt, injured Romo, and NFL first way to lose never happen.

This game shows just how GOD AWEFUL the secondary was for Dallas last year despite the best pass rush in the NFL. How many times did the secondary give up 3rd and 10+ in critical times last year? This game features the very worst example of that. The Cards called that play because they expected to punt. The entire game changed on that one melt down despite all the other meltdowns in that game by the STs.

Oh, and I should note that Wade Phillips was letting everyone know that the team "worked extra" on Special Teams in practice that week, so how do they respond? Give up a TD on the opening kickoff.....

Somebody put a serious hexx on Dallas last year. Too many things went the opposite of what they should have.

who missed the block that got McBriar hurt?

2 players, remember the ball got blocked and another player ran into mcbrair

best i remember was tony curtis and rogers

and of all the times to pull something the special teams coach moved burnett our best blocker on special teams, to a new position and he put rogers and curtis in new positions to block on the team too

now how dumb was that

What I want to kno is how there was no roughing the kicker call on the blocked punt. They ran right into his leg and BROKE it. If thats not roughing the kicker I dont know what is.

Once the ball is touched on a blocked kick he is fair game. The player hit the ball before McBriar even hit it with his foot, that's how unblocked the guy was.

I tried to watch it, I honestly did. But when it got to that first fumble that wasn't from Romo I realized that I was just punishing myself. That one hurt bad enough at the time, can't imagine re-hashing that horrendous evening would do me any good.

Kudos to you folks who can sit through that game still. You are stronger than I.

Hard to win when your QB gets the ragdoll treatment.
