Those Who Answered the Call (and those who never heard the bell)

The Spears thing, geez, I can't agree more...Still living on the fumes of his LSU days, I think.

Glad to see someone mention Crayton. Is it just me, or does he get an insane amount of seperation for a guy who's "too slow". Oh yeah, he's averaging about 15 ypc for his career .. it's not just me.

Yep, and being physical and having some of the best hands in probably the whole NFL doesn't hurt either.

I agree. He's just a good, solid football player. Hurd looks like one, too. Guys like Barber, Hurd, and Crayton - guys who weren't high picks but ultimately help the offense click - are exactly the sort of guys that we don't have on the other side of the ball.

We're getting contribution and production from UFA's and low round picks on offense, yet have a slew of first round and first day guys on defense that still can't cover or pass rush. Definitely confounding.

I think it's a heart question more than a question of talent.

Definitely. We should be be a defensive team based on the amount of resources we have spent on the D. All the, "they need to step it up" posts just ain't working, some need to find their way on the bench more often.
