Thought on DeMarco's Long Run...

Maybe instead of worrying about Murray running out of gas we can focus on something like ... I dunno ... why our backup RB is seemingly incapable of spelling Murray for a series or two for a breather.

If we aren't going to play Felix a series or two to give Murray a breather then why keep Felix at all?!
This is a long season. I like to see the staff manage usage of our players better such as break for Murray and Ware. We have decent backups so play them.

The entire night we was running at contact instead of going towards daylight.

Olawale was like this in that Raiders Pre-season game and then bounced back against the Chargers and looked like he actually had some vision.

I expect this is a 1 time thing and it will get corrected.

We have to keep him healthy though. He's just built to get hurt.

I was saying the same exact thing. In college this guy was a heat seaking misile for the end zone. For some reason he does not seem to sniff it out like that in the pros.

Even last year in his first game against St. Louis he had a TD as he blew by their safeties and he just went to the floor. He said afterwards it was cause he felt defenders behind him and he didn't want to jeopardize a fumble.

That cut back in was very mysterious last night as was his early need to run near the pile when there was space to run outside. This guy has some AP in him when it comes to hitting a pile and turning it into a big play though.

The kid was just over thinking it. Give him time and his instincts will just take over. He has just a hand full of NFL games and it will start clicking even better than it is now. I was impressed that he thought enough to take a fall instead of going out of bounds at the end of the game. I think it was the Witten holding play.

I dont know if its incapable......we have enough RB's to spell Murray...and IMHO I think they could if they were ever given a chance.

Maybe the coaches thought .....let Murray be our horse....E.Smith was...

I'm starting to wonder that myself. Especially on a player who has absolutely no long term future with the organization. I guess we're going to wait around for a few months for Felix to drop around 15 lbs and provide something for a few weeks at the end of the season before he rides off into the sunset, while Murray gets run into the ground.

I posted this concern in another thread....

If Murray is running out of gas like this......then he needs to be in better shape.....end of story.

I gave him a pass last year because it was his 1st year....

Last nite there were a few times I wondered what Murray was doing.....The one down the sidelines....he took a extreme left to look for contact...when he could of just kept on running down the sidelines....right behind Dez...

Then there was another.....he broke free up the middle....and ran right into Dez .....hard too ....and Dez got up shaking his hand or arm....looked like he was hurt. The problem I had with that run was....there was room to run in open space and Murray looks for contact.

Baffles me.....I like Murray.....he runs hard......but we need him to be in better shape...looks like he runs out of steam anytime he breaks a run.

Did he have a workload? Sure did....but so did E.Smith and I never seen him give up on a run and look for contact.

Its concerning ....

That is just speculation that he ran out of gas. There is no real proof that that is the case. Even if we assume that he did indeed run out of gas you have to give him a pass this year as well. He had a major injury at the end of last year. He did not get a full off season worth of training and conditioning. It is not concerning. That is making too much out of this.

I've noticed a lot of his runs, he is literally running at someone. I don't know if he is trying to be a power back and run people over or what. Early in the game, Witten was blocking a guy, and he ran at the guy Witten was blocking and got tackled. I also did a double take when they posted his weight at, 230lbs, ***** ******!

Counting on Murray to be as durable as the NFL's All Time Leading Career Rusher is probably not a wise gamble, considering no one else in the history of the NFL has lived up to that standard either. It's a different game than the one Emmitt played. Very few RBs in the NFL carry Emmitt's workload, and those that do tend to have short careers.

Agreed totally,.. if its an ongoing issue then I'm sure it'll be addressed.

I remember one run where he ran right into the defender that Witten had engaged with a block. Seems he could have avoided that guy since Witten had him blocked.

I love the kid though, if he stays healthy, he will punish teams every week.

I love a good RB, .. and I am a huge DM fan.

I don't think anyone is really complaining. Most RBs in the league would have ran out of gas at that point.

I think he saw the guy coming up from behind and knew he couldn't out run him, so he cut inside to have him loose his stride.
After i saw the replay i thought the same thing. Shame i think he could have made it.

It wasn't criticism. Just interested in everyone's thoughts and several posters gave some good insight as to what might have been going through his head.

Unbelievable talent. I just hope we can keep him healthy.

It was criticism.

In the end, he was probably exhausted anyway.

Reminds me of that run where he just threw himself to the ground last season. It's kind of bizarre that a player that plays so hard seamingly just gives up on certain plays. Because it really did look like he said " the hell with it i'm tired".

Great game by him. But maybe he should work on his conditioning if we're going to be running him 18-25 times a game. I don't see Adrian Peterson throwing himself to the ground. It's a little annoying.

I watched that several times, and yes, he at the very least gets to the 10 probably scores. Dez did a great job getting downfield and blocking! That was encouraging.

1) First game of the season, everyone needs to work on their "game conditioning."

2) DeMarco Murray has to typically make a million cuts behind the LOS just go get some positive yards.

The dude is a pure beast.

With his potential, .. he should begin to train like Walter, Jerry, and Emmitt.

You listening DM ?

I know Garrett will give Murray the ball with a lead. I want to see him give it to him when we're down in a game as well.
