If Selvie keeps his play up and Spencer comes back we will have a really good pass rush. I would expect Our DTs did a solid job rushing. The weak link on our pass rush was actually Ware. I expect him to have some much better games of course.

I only watched the game once but I thought Ware did a pretty good job. I hate to complain about refs and i'm sure EVERY team feels their elite pass rusher is held but Ware was definitely held the majority of the game. I literally saw the left tackle grab him with both of his arms as if he wanted to get the holding just so Eli wouldn't get killed. Didn't get called.

A good showing on sunday night...who would've thought that could happen after plenty of embarrassments.

Romo holding back and not taking the bait was just a bonus for the future....taking what the D gives you and not forcing things can be a good thing

Unheralded aspect of the game was the kick/punt coverage. 4.0yds/return on 5 punts, not bad. Dwayne Harris had a few nice plays. After seeing a few really bad plays in pre-season, the squad looked good. Let's hope they can keep it up all season.

Yep I seen the same thing. I was waiting for the yellow flags but none were thrown! Total BS! Ohh well we won the game :)

Great point. Dallas had their **** together. All teams make bonehead plays, it's how you answer...

Agreed. Some teams take advantage of them more than others. The Giants took advantage of our bonehead plays; not all teams will.

Overall I agree with you that we played well

My biggest gripe was that if you get 3 turnovers in the first 10 minutes of the game and you are up 3-0, there is no way you have played a good game because it means that you have had at least 5 possessions and scored only 3 points so your offense is struggling big time. a really good team will come back and beat you

as it turned out, the giants kept playing sloppy and kept turning the ball over, but against a really good team you cant count on that happening

I gotta disagree here. If you're up 3-0 then everything else equal, you have played a good (but not great) game because the turnovers count. The offense no doubt struggled like you said but the defense absolutely, completely, totally excelled, thereby making up for the offensive struggles.

Yes, the Giants kept turning the ball over but the 2nd and 3rd turnovers were forced ... by a defense playing great.

Still, I recognize that it's a legitimate gripe. Nobody wants to leave points off the board but for me it wasn't the difference between playing well and playing poorly; rather, that made the difference between playing really, really well and playing well.

On edit: it seems like you're agreeing we played well overall but that the offense played poorly during that stretch. If that's what you're saying, I agree.

You just described 95% of our losses over the last 5 years.

Agreed. This is a 10-11 win team only if they are able to minimize the drive killing penalties around the red zone and clear mental gaffes defensively leading to huge plays yielded. If this team is able to consistently let the games play out without shooting itself in the foot, this is no doubt a playoff team. We'll see...

yes, overall i was OK with how we played (esp defense) opening night and against the giants with a new defensive scheme and some injuries

my gripe was mostly that we had several opportunities to start fast and started very slowly, essentially the same problem as last year

Its funny how when Romo plays smart (especially with a lead) so many people are crying that he didn't take enough shots down the field. Then if he woulda forced throws to Dez causing a few picks, those same people would be crying about his contract. Romo played smart and we got the win, nuff said!!

I agree with the OP. The first half was dominant. Save for a few plays, we should have been up pretty big going into the half. Only concern I is Claiborne injury. As the defense continues to get comfortable in the new scheme, and we get some of our guys back from injury, this can be a real strength for this team. Baring further injury, the D line could go from thin to very deep. Its ridiculously early, but i think we're the 3rd best team in the NFC right now. Behind SF and GB.

A lot of good, but I still hated the penalties. Outside of that, we got off to a decent start.

Sorry, but I think our D got torched, and lets be honest, if we do not get that lucky break with that last INT, Eli marches right down the field and we lose. WE gave up almost 500 yards thru the air. Sure there was some drives where our D looked good, put we still have major issues against the pass...Eli made it look easy in that 2nd half.. Of course I LOVE the turnovers which this D has not gotten in 15 years, that is great to see and I know with this new system its a work in process but by know means did our D play well.

As far as our O goes,Romo should never have to throw the ball 45 times in a game we never trailed in... Also how many times have we seen an Offensive penalty as soon as we get into the red zone or after a big play....They are drive killers and it happens way too much.

This KC game is going to be a very tough game...I know they played an arena football league team week 1 but they are much improved and well coached now. .Also its a very tough place to play when the team is going well. With Romo and his sore ribs I hope we are able to run the ball successfully.. This game IS NOT going to be easy.

Dominant is not a word I would use.... Dominant would be if we capatilized on those turnovers like every good team does....

How can you say our D played great?? YOu don't give up 450 yards passing and be great.. Eli moved the ball at will in that 2nd half....We played FAR from great on D

I have a confidence in the team that I haven't had in a long, long time. It isn't anything that I can control or choose to feel... it is only there when the franchise earns it. And they have been earning it.

Great camp. Solid practices. Good drafts. Cutting WAY back on dumb penalties. No blockheads on the team. No bad decisions. Solid play with the other team showing quit before anyone wearing a star does.

We embarrassed a good franchise in prime time Sunday. We looked like the better coached team. We had fewer penalties. They made the mistakes and we capitalized.

And the team doesn't look like a group that got lucky. They were in charge and did what they set out to do.

embarrassed? we won by 5 points
