Thoughts after two games

Maybe I am thinking of a totally different play then or confusing it, but I thought the blitzer from the left was picked up.

If I have that wrong, my apologies.
it still doesn't change the fact that defenses for some time now (definitely in the NFCE) have just started giving you those wide-open underneath routes knowing the qb will throw there on 3rd & long
compounding the fail was that Witten rarely had any RAC anymore so the play was dead where he caught it

maybe having Tavon catching it he can work miracles idk

we already know your evaluation on quarterbacks is piss poor to begin with though.

I know. If it was up to me Carson Wentz would be the starter here. The horror.

Give my best to the others in the Land of Make Believe.

Once we get Collins back in the fold (they were having him at 3 tech in some of the walkthroughs IIRC) I think DT starts to look better. I like Woods as a nice rotation piece - the run defense was more stout with him at 1T. I'd like to either pull a trade or look for another solid depth piece at 1T after final cuts.
I could see DT being fairly improved compared to last year. There is no Wilfork in the middle to consume running backs like some (myself included) would have liked, but it's not unreasonable to think they could get T-McClain type performance at 1T, which would be solid.
Not great, but solid, which would help out the pass rush to force more third-and-longs

You believe Wentz would be a great player here with this coaching staff and with no defense to bail him out. I give my best to you and the rest of you guys living out there in the land of make believe.

I believe Wentz could develop cerebral palsy and be a better player than our current starter.

My thoughts after two games is they are running basically a vanilla offense for a reason. You're not going to see a wide open play book just yet.
Defense is surprisingly good.

Everybody's vanilla. That's a good test for overall talent. Scheme isn't exposing anyone. You're just manning up and playing football.

We lack talent. If that offends you, so be it. The proof is on the field on a weekly basis.

It's true that our 1s have out played the competition but our 2s and 3s have been badly out played.

what I like:
1st units on both sides.
run game.
WR corps.
DEs...very deep...very talented.
DTs Antwaun Woods,Datone Jones and Price.
LBs...this is a fun group to watch.
CBs...Jones,Awuzie...very good duo.
Heath,Woods and Frazier.

what I don't:
depth along our OL...except for Looney...Fleming to this point unimpressive...want to see Kadeem Edwards more.

TEs...I thought they'd be above avg to good by this point in blocking...Im more concerned than I thought I'd be.I like them as receivers but Im surprised they aren't handlin their business blocking...still alot of time between now and wk 1.

Im not impressed by our young DBs...Ward,Olumba,Kelly...not playing up to the camp hype in my opinion.

They'll probably see discussions that many of us are involved in and say to themselves, this is a cool place to really talk about the Cowboys freely. Speak optimistically, critically, fairly, etc. And that's a good thing.

If this board was dominated by people like you who think just about everything is associated with the Cowboys is awesome and we are gonna kick butt and all our players are great and that people who have differing opinions are just haters and losers, it would be a truly terrible board.

You and others lose your cool constantly over opinions on this board and spew your butthurt throughout it.

It's already ruined!

Nothing from a forum offends me. Especially since you are basically agreeing with me.

No actually I'm not. You seem to be excusing poor play by being vanilla. I'm saying everybody just lining up and playing without gameplanning for a specific opponent levels the playing field and exposes the talent.

The board is ruined?

Only when you and others spam it with your nonsense. On a good day we are able to discuss football. Those are the days when you all are occupying your residency.....which is under your rocks.

Once your hater sensies alarm, you awake, and all bets are off.

Discussing how all things Cowboys is awesome is not discussing football.

It's simply a guy sitting in his room, who can't grasp reality, while wearing a giant Rowdy foam hat, Cowboys pajamas, watching clips of the early 90s teams and thinking that regardless of who dons a Cowboys uniform, inevitably, that guy is gonna rock.

Wow that was very specific. Way to come out of the closet. Congrats

You need help

Why are people complaining about Dak?

It was a 16 play, 82 yard, 9 minute drive that ended with a touchdown. Without Zeke on the field.

Are we docking style points?
That's about what I was going to say.

Dak has looked great in limited time so far.

I think the problem is watching only highlights of other teams. You don't see the times Brady or Rodgers or other QB's overshoot their WR's. I swear, I think some people believe that other QB's complete 94% of their passes.

This isn't really about only Dak. It's about a fear that our overall system will resemble what we saw last year............ lots of short stuff, inability to move the chains if a team stunts our run game, no real threats for chunk yardage other than Elliott in the run game, etc.

I think offensive issues we have seen is as much a coaching issue as it is who is playing QB.

You would like more yards passing, because at least you know if you need to move the ball quickly it's an option
but if efficiency is very high and the ball moves down the field/you convert 3rd & long if you need to- I will live with sub-200 yard games
we aren't getting that level of efficiency though

teams are going to sell out on the run
they will play for long down and distance then leave 5 yard competitions underneath wide open on 3rd down
rinse and repeat
Zeke has to carry the offense
