Thoughts ahead of the cuts

• Grier probably secured an NFL future tonight, just not at the Cowboys. It does create pause for him taking a spot ahead of Rush
• Luepeke may have earned himself a spot on the roster as an all-round H-back ahead of Davis and McKeon. Or he might be a PS elevation, regardless he put himself in the mix
• I think Joseph did enough to earn the backup slot spot. I think he showed some great improvement
• Jalen Tolbert is more of a WR3b rather than a backup WR. His progress was massive
• We've got some decent linemen coming up in Bass, Richards, and Walezko. All should make the 53-man squad
• Juanyeh Thomas should not be cut. He's our best backup FS if Hooker goes down

My 53 man guess:

• QB: Dak, Lance, Rush *I'd pick Grier but don't think they will
• RB: Pollard, Dowdle, Vaughn
• TE: Ferguson, Schoonmaker, Hendershot
• WR: Lamb, Cooks, Gallup, Tolbert, Turpin
• OG: Martin, T.Smith, Richards, Bass
• OC: Biadasz, Farniok
• OT: Steele, T.Smith, Walezko

• DE: Parsons, Lawrence, Williams, Armstrong, Fowler
• 1T: Smith, Hankins, Bohanna
• 3T: Odigzuwa, Golston, Fehoko
• LB: Clark, LVE, Cox, Harper, (Look for a trade or pick up on waivers)
• CB: Diggs, Gilmore, Bland, Joseph, Mukuamu, Scott
• S: Kearse, Wilson, Wilson, Hooker, Bell, Thomas

• ST: Anger, Aubrey, Sieg

I think we will do some roster moves with veterans to find spots for Luepeke, McKeon, Brooks, and maybe an unknown LB. Sometime between now and week 3

That was my first thought. Way too many on defense. Cut Bohanna and add Luepke would be my first change.

IMO, Farniok is only on the roster until a veteran who gets cut replaces him Walezko only makes it if Edoga isn't able to go yet.

I think McKeon will be on the roster. He might be an initial cut, but they'll bring him right back after someone gets put on PUP/IR. MM can't be serious about 2 TE sets and go into the season with only 3 on the roster.

The little WR Johnson(?) will make the practice squad. I think Brooks is just PS, I don't see him adding much on gameday yet.

Luepeke will be PS initially. What does he do that keeps him on the 53? Short yardage? He's the 4th back. I'm thinking he'll be one we wind up losing.

Scott will only make the 53 because of trading a 5th rounder for him. Looks like we're going to let go a # of more talented prospects than him.

Plus I think Bohanna yoy could safely stash on the PS in case you need depth. I dont think he would get poached. Even so you may even find a better option as far as big DT's to keep on the PS. Hasnt been much if any growth with him going into year 3

DBs will be tough....but it's a deep group. Maybe we can get an extra roster spot if we cut Rowdy. But anyway, ready for the season to kick off.....

I've long been in favor of the league's teams having a 60-player roster.
But the expanded PS does allow some leeway in keeping talent, in that a PS player signed by another team must go to their 53-player roster.

QB's are in short supply and he just proved he can play at least some. I think some team will claim him.

Uhhhh you got me mixed up with somebody else big fella. Will Grier will enjoy being a 3rd stringer or an xfl player no matter how much he is in the hearts of CZ

Grier was drafted 4 years ago - but has only started / played in two games (the last two of his rookie season).
He turned 28 this past spring. With the younger (by 5 years) Lance suddenly becoming available, the Cowboys quickly decided to have him as the QB to develop over the next two years.

I would not be surprised once the Cowboys cut Will Grier, the Eagles will cut Marcus Mariota and/or Tanner McKee... and sign Will Grier.
