here are some of the things i'd like to see implemented for this season.

on 2nd and less than one yard
- quaterback sneak. i don't recall this play ever having been used last season.

halfback option
- jones and choice should start throwing in practice

quick slant pass
- garrett likes to have long developing plays/routes. this puts our oline under more stress.

motion the wr, not the tight end
- opposing defenses played man coverage against our wideouts and effectively jammed them.

motion the running back to the flank position
- this will draw a linebacker out. it will open the middle or cause a mismatch in coverage.

Wouldn't call a QB sneak on 2nd and one. That's a free play almost.

Luv the HB option

Would like to c slant more too but we have a vertical game. WRs have to be smart enough to read the D and hot read the slant

We motion the WR all the time

We motion the RB out of the backfield a lot....it's just a sprint out

Tony Romo isn't a big quarterback, I don't want him running the ball on short yardage plays where the defense will be looking for it.

Romo just needs to pick his spots to scramble (while protecting the ball) when we have defenses spread out covering all our receivers.

You don't have to be 6'6 250 to run a QB sneak, plus it's the shortest distance from A to B.

If Gurode and Bigg can't move the pile 2 yards, then we don't deserve to be mentioned as a top-tier team.

A lot of times the defensive linemen shoot to the ground so its hard for the linemen to move the pile.

Its more about positioning and trying to use the advantage of the snap count.

I'd like to see more passes to the half backs. Donate some practice time to throwing the ball to fullbacks and halfbacks.

Basically just stop gettin cute. If you need a half yard or a yard, sneak it sometimes.

Hate the sneak. Last thing we need is to expose Romo to more contact. Use when we really need to.

On 2nd and short, I like the idea of running Felix Jones. Give the defense a run look. Maybe they play a short yardage type D, and Felix gets a chance to break one.

I want to see more 2 TE sets and Barber at FB in the 2 back sets.

In fact I'd prefer we not carry a FB.

When we go 2 Backs I'd like to see the following based on the situation and what we need from the FB position on that play call.

1) Barber
2) Bennett or Witten
3) One of our LB's like the Pats have done for years.

nope...on 2nd and 1, throw a 50 yard bomb...if incomplete, then sneak it... :)

We dont need to run QB sneaks we have Marion Barber.

I think we will run more slants with RW this year, TO really wasnt good at making tough catches in traffic. Both Romo and B. Johnson had some picks on balls that bounced off TOs hands while running slants. Just is not his thing.

The biggest thing I want to see is the ball being spread around more. I think Garrett's mistake last season was not getting Bennett or F. Jones more involved in the game plans. Why let the defense focus on taking away one or 2 guys when you have 4 or 5 guys that are match up problems for defenses.

I'd like to see that too. It was a part of his game that injurys played a big role in changing last year. With Romo healthy we should see more of it.

Exactly, get these rbs the ball in space and let 'em work.

I think the problems we had with the slant last year was TO's speed. He was too fast for Romo. Romo consistently threw the slant behind him. I don't think that'll be a problem with RW.

Really, I think JG calls the game fairly well. He keeps defenses off balance when he's on it's just that he seems to get a lil cute at times. I don't really care for the shotgun formation in the redzone too much. I wish he would just run the ball down peoples throats every now and then or at least attempt to.

I'd like to see them not wait until 1 second before the play clock runs out to actually snap the ball.
The snap count can be a weapon if used correctly!

I like the idea of a gadget play, Red seems to be vehemetly opposed to keeping defenses honest with the occasional flea flicker, HB pass, double reverse pass, etc.

hell, the guy doesn't even switch up the sequence of plays

pass, pass, run

pass, pass, run

pass, pass, run

He was 'taking what the defense was giving him'.

My thoughts exactly!! It was a rarity that the ball was snapped with < 3 seconds left on the clock. If Romo had lined up and snapped the ball with 8+ secs left on the clock, the D would have been caught COMPLETELY off-guard.

This is just one thing that was indicative of a too predictable offense. Romo is considered elusive but he isn't a runner. Opposing teams never had to worry about game planning against him scrambling for a 1st on 3rd and 4. There were far too many times he could have simply tucked the ball and easily/safely ran a few yards to move the chains. Just as he needs to further develop when to throw he also needs to be smarter on when/how to judiciously run.

Additionally, I also hope Garrett now understands that Felix is an explosive/dynamic weapon that if used properly will cause D coord nightmares and require additional time/energy to combat our O.

We did run Barber and he was stuffed so many times, I'm not saying sneak every time, but at least put it in the play book.

And I totally disagree about TO running slants. This guy made a career of killing people off the slant.
