I live in Georgia now, but my family is still in Dallas and my sister just gave birth, so I happened to be in town this weekend and happened upon tickets.
Here's what I saw that maybe you didn't on camera all the time
1) They kept moving two wr's to one side and splitting shockey out wide on the other. when they did this, for some reason, Roy would go to cover shockey, all by himself, no safety help. This was money for 14 yard outs every time. Seems like we know Roy can't do this...we have to scheme it differently. Why not have Hamlin cover him and Roy play deep help on other side? Will this change with Newman?
2) The oline was great, but not as great at run blocking, even though the stats say we did ok. They got better later in the game, but i think the giants had to be worn down. it was humid and rapid-fire. I could barely get my breath (to drink my beer). Could you tell the place was rocking? We would not be denied last night. the crowd was awesome (no thanks needed).
3) Ware was doubled every pass play, and we didn't seem to flop sides. he often was covering a te, not playing weakside. Can anybody confirm this? Simplified for Spencer?
4) Speaking of Spencer, he seemed to play damn well. He got two pressures and a sack, that for some reason the NFL doesn't count. Why don't sacks on two point tries count? But, I couldn't tell much on the run game from Spencer. He at least showed he has the talent, did more in his first game than Ware did. Of course, Ware didn't have Ware on the other side.
5) Romo starts slow! Somebody look this up stat-wise, but i was starting to see this pattern last year and was reminded last night. We never score a td on first drive, and he just is so much better after the first quarter. That's what happens to gamers--once they get into the flow, they are unstoppable. But they gotta get into it first
6) MBIII fourth and one run was amazing and dangerous (right by me). He should have just turned it up and picked up the first down for sure, but went down after like 5. Instead, he risked missing the conversion, ran sideways, and just willed himself in. I told you, we would not be denied, and he is the perfect example of that. The crowd went nuts everytime he came in the game. I felt bad for Julius. Parcells woulda been irate at Barber despite the outcome. Of course, parcells woulda kicked the field goal. The team is pumped and really likes Wade.]
7) I think it was Roy's bad on the 2nd or 3rd Plaxico TD, i can't remember which one. Reeves released to inside, they had him doubled out-in, and Roy seemed a step slow to move. Reeves kinda looked at him and made a face after it happened. I think this is why Wade has a higher impression of Reeves' game than most. He gave up one TD, but had 2 deflections and a pick. I'd take that against Plaxico most nights.
