Thoughts on Brandon Carr?

It's not just Carr. This entire D just cannot get turnovers.

He is about what I thought he was. He is a very good corner. Nothing more.

I never bought into the "shutdown corner" balony that some folks here on CZ tried to feed the rest of us.

There is nothing wrong with a "very good corner".

The problem is we overpaid for him and that contract will hurt the Cowboys in all sorts of ways going forward.

When a player goes from league standout in one system to relatively obscurity in another it's not the player... It's the system.

Same under Wade....now same under Ryan. What gives? What's in Dallas that causes players to not play great but play great for other teams??? Country club atmosphere?

I'm more confident in Carr's play than I am in a Cowboy fan's ability to recognize good CB play from poor CB play.

He's going to get beat. He's not elite, and anyone expecting that from him will be disappointed. Most of the folks on this forum will be disappointed regardless. It's just their nature.

He talks tough to the media. Other than that, he is just a solid corner that is overpayed. Afterall, he was the Chiefs second best CB.

confidence in him wavering a bit?

Oh yeah....

Because Newman was better.....

Because Corners are not supposed to let catches happen....release him.

I still think he's a very good corner who is a massive upgrade from what we had last year. I didn't notice him getting abused today, other than he fell down on that one long play. That happens sometimes, and when you fall down you get beat. That simple. Most of the plays I keep seeing given up are where receivers are open across the middle and run away from the zone coverage. At least the way it seems to me.

Really? How much do you think we over paid? You think the few million we overpaid thru the length of the contract will hurt the Cowboys that much? How do you know we don't redo his deal? I'm not sure I understand this whole 'overpaid' argument.

He fell down. People only notice the bad plays therefore he sucks.

I was more concerned about Butler getting creamed on the edge again.

Truth.

One of the worst contracts in the entire league.

Carr is a good CB... Dallas paid the market price for him which unfortunately was way too much in reality. He needs to start picking off some passes.
