I already posted comments about Wright, Joseph, Anae and Connor Williams so I will confine my thoughts here to other topics.

Jabril Cox had a really good game last night. The thing the struck me is how good a tackler he is. He has way better technique than Jaylon Smith. Tackling is about getting the other guy down and Cox gets this done with efficiency. He also seems to have good instincts. He is rookie raw but he will learn.

I am concerned with the DT position even if Gallimore is not seriously injured. (I posted a comment about the elbow hyperextension and how it may look a lot worse than it is. Imagine of the elbow will tell everything). Bohanna had a bad game in my opinion, although he did almost make a play late in the game. I suspect he and Odighizuwa both need more experience to reach their true potential. Both of these guys are candidates to make huge leaps in year 2 but right now the DT position is seriously undertalented.

Micah Parsons is a football player and he makes plays. He is what we hoped Jaylon Smith would be. But for the rookies in general, we should not expect them to come in and dominate right away. There are little things about the NFL they need to learn to get comfortable.

None of the Cowboys 2nd roster receivers are showing me anything. I am disappointed in Simi Fehoko. He is not what I saw at the Stanford Pro day. I do not see any of these receivers to challenge the Cowboys top 5 receivers for a roster spot.

I can't wait to see the Cowboys 1st team offense on the field. I hope we don't have to wait until opening day against the Bucs. Dak needs to play withthe first team at least 1 or 2 series in one of these next 2 games.

I can't wait to see the Cowboys 1st team defense on the field either. I want to see Gregory and Lawrence lined up next to whoever the top 2 tackles are with Parsons behind them. I am also curious who the secondary will be.

I said I wouldn't comment on Connor Williams but it occurred to me I should. Connor Williams does not look like the answer at C yet. Farniok isn't either. If I had to choose 1, it would be Williams. Learning to make a proper snap seems easier than teaching Farniok to snap and get into blocking position faster. I think Farniok will be a sloid NFL guard someday, I am not sure about him playing Center.

I like Tyler Coyle in the draft. I like how he played last night too. He has speed to his game. I have no idea what happens to him with all the guys Dallas has at safety but I think if they keep him they won't be sorry. I want to see more of him the next 2 weeks.

I think Isaac Alarcon can play in the NFL. He needs experience and coaching but you can see he has the size and ability to play OG.

I really like Rico Dowdle but he cannot fumble that ball on that play.

The score doesn't bother me but I would have preferred to see some killer instincts at the end of the game. But we have to remember it is a bunch of guys just trying to make the team and many won't.

Overall, two preseason games in, I am not convinced this team is going to make it deep into the playoffs. The defense still bothers me, although I think Parsons will make a big difference in some aspects of the game.

I wasn’t all that impressed with Cox last night, but I think long term he will be a good player for us.

I am actually a little bit less concerned about the DTs now than before. Odiggie may very well turn out to be a good player for us. Gallimore is going to be solid and improve. More importantly, I think the play of the DEs is going to help the DTs. Run defense inside has been a pleasant surprise against who we have faced.

Micah Parsons is a football player and he makes plays. He is what we hoped Jaylon Smith would be. But for the rookies in general, we should not expect them to come in and dominate right away. There are little things about the NFL they need to learn to get comfortable.

If Parsons stays assignment sound and stays healthy he is going to be one bad dude. Seems to be a very good pick based on what we have seen so far.

I think Malik Turner may get a spot on the team, possibly at the expense of Noah Brown. Brown can block but he is limited as a receiver.

Fekoho is very raw, but the team will want to stash him if they can. On a player like him you have to “project” how good they will be. He’s not one of the top 5, but I can see the team saying we are not going to take a chance exposing him to waiver claims because of his upside. He would be a classic PS candidate, but he has a lot of potential.

Contrary to you I think Brown and Wilson better have their head on a swivel. They could easily not be Cowboys at the final cutdown due to cut or trade. Wilson more likely to stick because of special teams.

Time will tell.

I thought Cox got himself out of position several times last night on running plays. He made some good plays, but I'll have to go back and look if he was responsible for some of the bigger runs allowed.

I thought the defense showed some nice improvement, as compared to their results with Pittsburgh. Our young LBs showed signs of development, as did Nahshon Wright. Kelvin Joseph had best take a turn for the better if he wants to keep Nahshon from stealing his job. o_O No more injuries, please!

Odighizuwa looked good last night in my opinion. He gets into the backfield and never quits. He might not be an every down player but whenever he was out there Arizona had trouble blocking him. Some more of my thoughts:

- Garrett Gilbert took a step back from the HOF game. Dallas' best QB last night was Cooper Rush and even he was average at best.
- I'm wondering if the Cowboys should re-sign Cedrick Wilson right now with Michael Gallup in his walk year.
- Terance Steele is much better than he was as a rookie and should easily beat out Ty Nsekhe for the swing tackle role.
- Loved to see Keanu Neal with the forced fumble/recovery on the same play. He's physical and that's what this defense needs.
- Last night was a learning experience for Kelvin Joseph.
- Dallas squandered the tie by throwing the ball on 3rd and 2 late. Ben DiNucci has no touch on intermediate passes and Johnnie Dixon had no chance to catch that ball.

All 3 OCs were good with regards to blocking. Farniok has been much better at both OG and OC than I expected.
Snap Issues by my count:
CW: 1 bad, 1 questionable
TB: 2 questionable
**: 1 semi-bad

The questionable snap for CW hit the QB in the hands about waist high but came with a bit too much velocity.
- It popped straight up into the air which made it look bad, but that was as much or more on the QB as the OC.

The one for ** at about the QBs right shoulder.
- DiNucci handled it well and almost seemed to prefer high snaps.

Cox was erratic. Several very good plays but also several bad plays. He was almost single-handedly responsible for one the AZ scoring drives with bad positioning vs the run.
- I like his upside and obvious coverage ability. He has the size to be more than just a coverage specialist but he has a lot to learn with regards to positioning/leverage/angles in the run game.

Both Bohanna and Odighizuwa have been much better than I expected in both games.
- It was surprising to see Bohanna with pass rush ability.

Jaylon is terrible. He is the dumbest player on the team.

Parsons might be best player on defense already.

I see upside with Fehoko. He is a player that at draft time was obviously going to take time to develop. They could have drafted a more ready now by lower upside WR.
- Physically Fehoko reminds me of Jordy Nelson.
- A guy like Malik Turner is going to look decent in a preseason game against 3rd string defenders because he has been handing around the NFL for what is now his 4th season.

Tyler Coyle is 2nd this preseason on players that have caused me to utter "he sucks" when reviewing game footage.
- I'm curious why you think he has been good.
- He has 1 good play where to sacked the QB on a roll-out. AZ literally forgot to block him. He was right up at the end up the line on the side of the roll-out and no AZ player even attempted to block him.
- He was 1 of the 3 Cowboy defenders on the pass break-up in the endzone with 3 defenders on 1 receiver. I could not determine which defender touched the ball.

FYI: #58 is #1 on for causing me to utter "he sucks".

Last regular season the winner for most utterances by me of "he sucks" was Jaylon.

Alarcon has been decent. I can only judge him at OG because that we they've played him. It would be interesting to see him at OT.
- He obviously makes many mistakes but he definitely appears to have NFL type physical ability.

Rico Dowdle. Just as I was thinking that he is playing really well, he fumbles (twice). The 2nd one was not ruled a fumble but probably should have been.
- He is a good pass blocker both in physical ability and awareness.
- He was a good ST player last season.

Lack of Killer Instincts.
- One player that appeared to 'loaf' more than once was #97 (Ron'Dell Carter). He had some good plays in the game but he often lacked aggression and max effort.
- Another player that I would like to see play more aggressively is La'el Collins. He has ideal RT physical ability but makes a lot of dumb mistakes in run blocking. He was overly aggressive in his first season or two, but not anymore.

Williams snap issues are more than them being high or low. They are painfully slow back to the QB.

Just a general comment on rookies. With the exception of the best #1 draft picks, and even most of them, they look lie rookies from time to time. The lower they were drafted, the more often they will look like rookies. But the expectation is, as they gain NFL experience, learn the play book and get NFL coaching, they start to reduce the rookie mistakes and start to look like NFL players. Gallimore last year is a great example. He looked pretty average or worse at the beginning of the season but looked much better at the end. The 2021 rookies are just getting their feet wet. So what I liked about Coyle is his playing speed and while I get it he made one play because no one blocked him, at least he made the play. As an undrafted rookie, I don't have high expectations for him early but I do see some potential. The Cowboys needed to get faster on defense and he helps with that. But he is a developmental player right now.

#58 is Austin Faoliu. I doubt he ever had a chance to make the team.

Speaking of Dinucci, I thought he played pretty well until the Cards started blitzing him. Then I thought he rushed his throws and panicked a little. But he appears to begetting better. Maybe in another year he will be a good backup for Dak.

Actually many of them were to fast including the one that hit the QB in the hands and popped straight up.

He never played OC in college or the NFL until last week...

I think DiNucci is more talented than the other two. If he had been handing around the NFL as long as they have then I think he would clearly beat them out.

Austin Faoliu is competing for a practice squad job.

I'm curious which plays you liked with regards to Tyler Coyle. Let me know and I'll review him again.
