Does anybody else think this new concussion protocol is overkill? These are warriors paid to battle buy the fans and being paid big bucks to do so. The victimization and CTE suits seem frivolous, and now Hollywood is making a movie about it.

Where has the warrior fight to the death for your coaches and team mentality gone in this league?

CTE is very real, and people need to be informed. Now, should the NFL union/NFL be doing more in inform them, yes. But, at the end of the day, the only thing that keep your brain from rattling in your head, is not to play these contact sports. I really have not heard of CTE in baseball, and I really do not pay any attention at all to soccer.

When guys are killing themselves, and specifically saying, look at my brain, something major is wrong(Seau, Duerson).

Well. We don't want the warriors going off the deep end after they finish their playing days.

I think the NFL has to protect players and themselves. These warriors are coming back and suing the NFL over this and the league would be pretty stupid to ignore these head injuries

+1.

I see nothing wrong with what the NFL is trying to do.
While I partially see it as a risk that players knowingly take for fame and money, it's also an issue the NFL can't allow to slip through the cracks and cause serious long term damage to the players. Now that we know more about the long term effects of concussions, these extra steps are a right move. Seeing it too in the NHL, a lot of fighters, who traded a lot of blows to the head during their fights have committed suicide over the years. Brain damage is a scary thing.

The lawyers stepped in and sued the league for billions, so that warrior mentality is pretty expensive.

The NFL has to be able to demonstrate in a court of law that they did everything they could to protect the players. I know the recent class-action suit has been resolved, but this problem is not going away anytime soon. Also, while I think the current protocol is somewhat flawed, I am absolutely in line with the idea of getting a neutral person to decide on a player's readiness to go back into a game (instead of a team doctor who may not necessarily have the player's best interests at heart).
