He is a hell of a talent and a major match up nightmare. I know he has been inconsistent with drops. However, I think he would thrive here. He would instantly help us in the red zone as well.

Look at the success the Pats are having with 2 strong catching TE's.

I am lening strongly to liking the idea of trading Austin for high pick, re sign Robinson and bring in Finley while upgrading our interior line through FA or DeCastro at 4.

Thoughts?

Uh, no. Re-sign Robinson and Marty B for less money and the Cowboys are good to go.

Jermichael Finley?

Why? That would be a waste of money.

We need help on the secondary, offensive and defensive lines, why waste that kind of money on a pass catching TE when we already have Witten and Phillips?

Draft a 3rd TE or sign a cheap one.

The packers are planing on putting the franchise tag on Finley. He isn't leaving GB.

I think Bennett will leave. I think he wants a different role than he has here in Dallas and playing behind Witten he is not going to get that chance.

I figure as much but I would still make an effort to re-sgn him.

I dont think Finley is going to command top dollar. He can sign a 1 year deal in hopes of an improved year to help his value for the future.

I would love to be able to sign Finley. But I don't think we will go that direction.

I think we'll draft another TE this year instead, and the FA dollars will be spent on defense and re-signing Robinson.

and Dallas may do that but I think Bennett wants a chance to take on a bigger role. We see him as a blocker I think he sees more in himself than just being a blocker.

Yeah, a non-catching blocker who is weak minded and lazy. Get this cancer the hell out of here.

Dallas would need to make some big adjustments to their offense if they brought in Finley. Finley doesn't block. Not even a little bit. That would force Dallas to keep Witten in to block more.

Your words not mine. I don't think he is lazy and I don't think he is a cancer. I also would not be surprised to see him have success. He is still a very young man at 24 years of age

The issue with Bennett is lack of opportunities. I would resign Bennett and give him more of a larger role on the offense. He is to gifted not to be a top TE in the game.

Everyone is assuming Bennett wants to return. Reports have stated his handshakes and good byes were a little different then those of other players cleaning out their lockers. He wants a shot to be the man....that ain"t happening here. I dont think he returns.

No starting caliber TE is going to want to even come to Dallas when they already have an all time great at the position. And Finley will get big money. Bennett is as good as gone, there are plenty of teams that will offer a starting job and starting money.

I think if he is not retained by Green Bay, he goes to Miami.

Fasano is a free agent, and they have no one behind him. Not to mention Philbin is there now, and Finley has said nothing but positive things about him.

What do others think Austin could get us in a trade? 2nd rounder seem right?

and then we are back to trying to find WR. My hope at least is to have 3 WR who can go out and make plays.

I don't think anyone would want to pick up that contract.

Let's say a 3rd then.

Dez/Robinson/Witten/Finley + a 3rd is better then....
Dez/Austin/Robinson/Witten/Phillips

It allows us to properly run our 2 TE sets. This helps Murray immensly from a scheme point of view. With having an actual threat opposite of Witten it opens up so many play action opportunities.

Also...The extra 3rd get us our other OG or C. We can get decent WR backup in the 5th or 6th round.
