I saw a podcast where they said he really runs 4.45 because it was a pro day. I would normally say the same but his teammate ran on TBE same field on TBE same day and was slower. That teammate also ran 4.44 at the combine. If you run 4.44 ( electronic then run 4.41 at the pro day, I'd say the times are close to accurate. McCoy time was 4.38. At the combine its likely a 4.41 officially.

He is fast. Plenty of speed.

Yeah his speed and explosion look in tact. The concern now may be lateral agility. Apparently he didn't do drills which would've eliminated that as a potential issue.

Im certain our scouts and doctors will have a strong opinion.

If we select him @12 it has to be because he put those concerns to rest. If the board is wiped out @12 and we still dont go that way its gotta be because there were still big red flags.

I was really hoping he'd be our pick if the other 6 are gone.

Question with him is not speed but cutting at speed
Hopefully we have a private workout and test all this if we are considering him because if he can cut and do lateral agolity drills without problems then he might be BPA at position of need at 12

He did every single drill.

Miller: Like Field said, the feedback I received from teams was that McCoy is back in the running for CB1. There were some questions even from the morning of the workout about what drills he would participate in. But he did everything, including positional drills.

4.38 is normal Pro Day optimistic stuff, but it's not crazy. His tape backs him up as a low 4.4 guy minimum.

I don't know how to link this gif from Reddit, but check out the second GIF in this thread. Bama has their WR run a fake bubble screen, stand around for a moment, then take off a trick-play go route. The WR gets a step, and McCoy needs to bail from a dead stop and smash the gas pedal to catch up with him. It's a pure test of straight-line speed and explosion. McCoy pulls back even after about 15 yards and covers him like a blanket.

I'm not sure who the Bama WR is, cause I can't see the jersey number. It's not Ryan Williams (he's at the bottom of the screen in that gif), but based on Bama's 2024 depth chart, I think it's Germie Bernard. Bernard just ran a Combine 4.48 with a 1.52 10-yard split.

If McCoy is making up steps on high 4.4 guys, he's at least a low 4.4 guy.

Ht/Wt: 6-1, 188
40-yard dash: 4.38 seconds

Vertical: 38 inches
Broad: 10-foot-7
3-cone: Did not run
20-yard shuttle: Did not run

I believe they are referring to 3 cone and shuttle drills to see lateral agility. I want to believe, definitely not a naysayer. Im only questioning how our scouts perceived the work out.

the agility question is pretty much the only one left
so why did he not participate in those?

He ran faster than a guy who ran 4.44 at the combine. Its possible he gets faster after more rehab . and more time away from his injury. I'd be happy if we drafted him or hood. The last time we drafted the top corner was 2003 with t newmann.

Nick Harris doubled down on his stance. Repeated the Cowboys will not take McCoy. I can’t say I disagree with the line of thinking. No idea why people continue to think McCoy is an option, he’s not.

Fixed it for you.
He once again said he believes they have completely removed from their board. That is grade A moronic if true.

Nothing moronic about it. Perfectly reasonable

IMO, it’s 100% moronic to completely remove him from your board. If they think he is not worthy of 12 so be it. But completely removing him is just dumb.

Did they do 3 cone and shuttle drills? I haven’t seen reported numbers for those drills for any of the players who participated.

He did participate in a number of position drills. I saw video of him doing backpedal-drive-break, hip flip & transition drills, and tracking and interception drills. He also put out the video several days earlier doing some of the more traditional combine type drills.

What’s the difference between taking him off your board and not being willing to take him at 12 or 20? It’s the same thing lol

I think Dallas wants more Jordan Lewis types that can play inside or out.
