Thoughts on Jason Garrett

Gave absolutely no advantage to the team. Parcells of course did. Wade was a good DC. His whole mantra was "beat the guy in front of you". WOW, great strategy.

I feel like he was only our coach because Jerry owed him a favor for being a backup behind QB and never getting a chance to play that much

Bad predictable play calling. Decent otherwise. Don’t forget that Jerry went to a bunch of former Cowboys players to ask their opinion before he hired him as head coach. Including the likes of Troy Aikman, Emmett Smith, and Michael Irvin nonetheless. And they all recommended him. He just wasn’t quite ready in my opinion

He was just a mediocre head coach. Same as the GM, mediocre. He didn't have the brass cojones of a Jimmy or a Bill to stand up to the "GM in training" and it translated into mediocrity. Had to put up with Jerry's brilliant descisions like signing Greg Hardy, Rolando McClain, and others which undermined his authority. He was semi-respected but not by all of the players which at the end of the day did him in. Amazingly lasted 10 years on the job, but the fact that he´s been unemployed at a decently young age, 54 when he was fired, tells you all you need to know about his qualifications to be an NFL head coach.

..... saying “it’s a process.”.....
And I think he also coined the phrase "adversity", as I never heard that term used, ever, until he started saying it, and now it's a Cowboys staple alongside "process". Can't also forget "We'll study the tape and get it corrected". lol

I know that many Cowboys fans were ready to move on from him when it happened in 2020. Where do you think he went wrong? I mean other than the obvious, not getting it done in the playoffs. Why do you think he ultimately failed as an NFL coach?
Having throwing contests with your QB is what a HS coach might do. Garrett was like the parent who becomes his own kids best friend when his job is to be a parent.

It’s a great strategy when it’s 4th and inches or your on the goal line

This man said “do that the entire game” no fooling the other team no strategy no nothing

He coached like it was the early 90's and the triplets were on the team. His offense had ZERO creativity.

Big Mike worse than Jason.

Should have kept Jason over Big Mike.
you are relative or something?

JG had ten years to prove himself and all he proved was that he was a mediocre Pro HC.
When the talent was there to make a real run, he always pooped the bed in the playoffs.

It’s important to understand that Jason Garrett did not hire himself, and didn’t continue to keep himself around when it was clear that he wasn’t the answer.

The coaches Jerry is willing to hire need about perfect rosters, and that has to be done by using the draft only.

Anyone still guessing as to why we don’t win? Oh yeah it must be bad luck.
