I wouldn't mind Jerry interviewing him as well. Garrett was making $6 mil/yr and Saban is making ~$8/yr (extension from Bama last yr). If we wanted him, Jerry would obviously have to pay up, but certainly something that is feasible with no cap implications with a coach's salary.

Saban and Dabo aren’t leaving the college ranks

Saban failed as an NFL Head Coach.

Coaching millionaires is much different than coaching college kids.

I’d be interesting in seeing Saban give the NFL another go. He is a god in Alabama, though. I don’t see him wanting to try the NFL again.

You said it yourself. He’s a god in Alabama.

He makes millions on millions. Coaches an elite program, never has to recruit as people want to play there.

Why stress and go to the nfl?

Who are the college coaches, Besides Jimmy Johnson, who have succeeded in the NFL? I am asking because I really do not know - and I am too lazy to do the research myself.

Im not endorsing Saban per se, but people kill me with this “he failed in the NFL” crap. He had the same winning percentage with Miami that Belichick had during his stint in Cleveland. It doesnt mean he couldnt win more with a different franchise.

Saban is a King of Kings, he ain't working for Jerry. He already pooped the bed, badly, in the NFL anyway. Big difference between coaching kids you recruited for scholarships and multi-million dollar grown businessmen.

Chip Kelly may have invented football

$8 million from Bama vs say $10 million from Jerry doesn't mean squat for Saban. That isn't life-changing money for him.

For example, I'm a Boise State fan, and we had a coordinator leave for UT-Austin a while back. We were paying him something like $500,000 per year, and UT offered him $3 mil. That is life-changing money for him, to where you could bait him out of a job with a paycheck. But what could Saban buy with $10M that he couldn't buy with $8M?

The only way you could bring Saban in with salary is by offering him next-level-of-rich money, say something like $30M-$50M a season, or giving him an ownership stake in the team. Obviously that ain't happening.
