Receivers are still getting open.
TEs are still suspect.
OL is very good with 4 starters + Looney (probably okay at backup guard, not sure about a C behind Looney)
Starting QB is ready

DL is ready to roll, even without Irving and Collins
LBs are the best I’ve seen in a decade or more
CBs are strong and deep
S - Very suspect due to injuries

Biggest Worries that could become major concern/embarrassment

  • I was not concerned about Heath and Woods as starters with Kavon as depth, but with injuries, S is a major concern. Heath looked like a heat seeking missile and a guy who could cover TEs and RBs from the box...find a way to keep him there. Kavon looked like an adequate backup down there, but we must find another deep safety. The backend is the key to stopping any long runs.
  • I hope I’m wrong, but to me Cam Fleming doesn’t look much better than Chaz Green. Our swing OT position is still a major problem. We better bring in someone off the waiver wire. We may be a run first team, but if a starting tackle goes down, we need a pass blocker with experience, even if he’s a weak run blocker.
  • We need to sign a blocking TE. A blocking specialist....critical to short yardage, goal line, and when teams load the back end—- we need a TE who can run block and assist a backup OT in pass protection. Use the other guys in pass situations.
  • Finally, OMG....we must sign or trade for a backup QB in the next two weeks. If not, the front office and coaches better pray Dak makes it through the whole season. #2 QB isn’t about potential; it’s about a guy who can step in tomorrow and at least read defenses, stay calm, deliver and protect the ball.
