Offense

-I had a feeling it was going to be a rough running day. Give Carolina credit, only team to stop them all season.
-Tyler Smith doesn't look right, thought he was lumbering and playing injured.
-Schott had a very poor day calling the game, very predictable and had Dak in 3rd and long throughout the day.
-What is the hell were they trying to do in that last drive, delayed screen when they cannot stop the pass?
-Dak was terrific on 4th downs, but you cannot expect him to be successful doing this too much.
-Tolbert drives me crazy, easy 1st down and steps out of bounds. Cowboys get stopped on downs.
-Pickens was the one man gang, where he didn't get much help.
-This offense looked very similar to the one we had last season.

Defense

-Losing Sanborn had the biggest impact against the run. Once he got hurt, the interior runs destroyed this defense. This was similar when Lve was our MLB, once he went down, run defense got much worse as he lined everyone up and made sure they knew their gap responsibility. Carolina was getting 8 yards every time they ran the football.
-When the defense is struggling badly stopping the run, our DC failed to make any sort of adjustments. Rarely saw run blitzes, extra men in the box, etc.
-Pass rush was non-existent, but having to worry about the run slowed them down. Only sack came on a LB blitz.
-That Elam penalty was a killer late, could of gotten the defense off the field late in the game.
-Once again blown coverages lead to big passing plays.
-Why in the world is Eberflus have his corners playing 10 yards away in a 4th and short scenario?
-Carolina's offense is very average and this defense made them look like a top 5 unit.

Special Teams

-Huge FG late by Carolina could of flipped the script for the Cowboys as they would of gotten the ball at their own 45 if it was a miss.

No matter the opponent, this offense can score against any defense, this defense cannot stop any offense. Expect back and forth games like this one for the rest of the season. Got three weeks to determine if they are buyers or sellers. Next week's outcome should be the deciding factor.

Schott and Dak are saying the right things, but I believe the team is starting to turn on Eberflus.

Another tootsieroll pop Cowboys fan. He is still on the fence as to whether Dallas is a buyer or seller. He thinks an offense that the Bears clamped down on can score against anybody.

I swear many Dallas fans will never have the cerebral ability to decipher what is a bad team at the most basic level. 30 years of losing and multiple arse whippings and chokefests have not done it.

I was actually thinking the same thing about Sanborn. As a player he doesn't offer much, but I think the Cowboys missed him giving the defensive audibles.

They have been horrible all season but yesterday they looked like they didn't even know how to line up properly.

I agree
Not what he says about the defensive coordinator.... He's trying
Is it just me or was this a shot at Jerry saying saying he doesn't have much to work with.

Something else is standing out is The players are not buying into his scheme

This team lacks so much talent its not even funny

Regardless of lack of talent, Eberflus should be fired and replaced with a DC that runs a more modern defense. We tried 10 years ago this same basic scheme, with better personnel, and failed.

I dont want Eberflus anywhere near this team when they bring in defenders for the scheme

This team is good enough to compete with the bad teams, and bad enough to lose to every good team we will play.

I have us, optimistically, going 3-8 the rest of the way (Beat the Cardinals/Raiders, Vikings, Giants)

No reason to be a jerk here. The guy I'm sure understands that the ship isn't likely to turn around the next few weeks. Trying to latch on to a thin thread of hope isn't something to be ridiculed for. Being an azz is though ...

I saw the same thing with Tyler Smith. He is not the same guy was saw last year. Maybe it would be a good idea to rest him and get him healthy.

Flournoy is a legitimate weapon. I have no idea what Dak was doing yesterday, but he dumps it off too often. Given the defense he has he needs to get the ball past the Line to Gain, especially when the running game is not working. Dak was not as good yesterday as he was the last few weeks. We have to watch this because he has a habit of starting strong and fading later in the season. Was yesterday the beginning of the fall?

I don't know that Sanborn would have helped. The Panthers were taking out the Cowboys DEs with TEs leaving offensive linemen to get upfield and block the LBs. We have no one to attack the LOS after quickly diagnosing the play. Honestly, the Panther OL bullied the Cowboys DL most of the day. Rico had so many 7+ yard carries because he had gaping holes to run through. But, to his credit he should a lot of patience and power the way he ran. He was never a break-away style RB. What we saw yesterday is who he is, if you block for him, and the Panthers did.

Playing the CBs off by 10 yards is something he has been doing all year. It makes no sense. He is giving up easy 1st downs. I get the bend but don't break strategy, but yielding and bending are two different things.

Carolina's offense was lower than average before yesterday.

I disagree that the Cowboys can score on anyone. They struggled to score on the Bears and they went scoreless the second half of a close game with the Eagles.

If losing your MLB ruins your run defense your coach is trash. Fred Warner is out for the year. Will a team with a terrible qb gash them for 300 yards? Of course not.

Other than Dak and Pickens pitch and catch routine I'm hard pressed to find any other positive.
After a good showing of run blocking last week we couldn't run block to save our lives so that sucked.

The defense...
Beyond words at this point.

..when your yelling at the TV, LOAD THE BOX...!!!!

DC continues on like nothing is happening..lol.. Rush four, drop LB's..................................here comes Rico for another 10 yd gain.

That right there is TOUGH LOSS. Stupidity of coaching.

All I wanted this year was some good football to watch and I've had a little bit but it certainly a shame with some of these close games that no one can step up and pull the rabbit out of the hat.

The defense has absolutely nothing it can stop no one it cannot be counted on it is the mess of all messes.

Pickens and Williams are very pleasant surprises and are playing above their heads and generally provide what good football we get to watch.

Dak has been playing very well the play calling has been decent up until we needed to get our kicker within range yesterday.

CD lamb is a disappointment for the money he doesn't elevate the team in big moments.

What was sad yesterday was that between dak and the play calling neither could get the most clutch player we have on the team close enough to do what he needed to do.
If I could trade CD lamb right now for Dexter Lawrence or Carter and the number one pick I would do it in a minute.

WE used to see if when Sean Lee went down. This team has no depth cause of bad drafting and no fa.

Always appreciate these balanced write ups with good analysis

-Our linebackers are stuck in mud, watching a player like Murray drives me crazy as he watches the play go right past him.

-Teams play a ton of shell coverage against us, they want Dak to throw the ball underneath and make the tackle. Either Dak forces passes into tight windows or he takes what is given. This is how the Cowboys have been without a run game. Yesterday was very similar like we saw last season.

-They never adjusted after the loss of Lamb in Chicago. In Philly, a red zone fumble and several key drop passes stalled out the offense. Offense needs to score TD's on every drive, one stop gets magnified cause the D is so so bad.

Year in and year out, this team wastes my time and my emotional investment. It's not worth it.

How Jerry and son can tolerate this is beyond me, it makes no sense.

We already know Eberflus is going to be the scapegoat why this season has failed. I don't believe for 1 second he was a Schott hire. Once again, we have non football men making these hires. I really hope Schott gets an opportunity to bring in his own DC, but I doubt it.
