Offense

-Despite all the points, thought the offense was somewhat sloppy, especially in the 1st half. Drive killing penalties, poor protection, tipped passes, etc.
-Thought both guards had their struggles at first glance
-Key to this offense is balance. When teams have to play honest against the Cowboy offense, they dominate, no matter the opponent. Teams can no longer just play shell coverage to take away the pass.
-Lamb/Pickens together is special. Their games really complement one another and Pickens has shown he isn't just a one route receiver any longer. Still have my issues with Tolbert, but this is the best receivers we've had since Cooper, Lamb, Gallup.
-I worry about the workload on Williams, Blue has to play more snaps. False start didn't help him.
-Dak is on that level where Romo was at the end of his career, he is seeing everything before it happens.

Defense

-I don't care how injured the washington receiving core was, this defense needed a big confidence boost.
-Run defense was terrific against one of the best rushing teams in the entire league. Thought they were physical and tackled well.
-Playing more man coverage most definitely helped this defense. I didn't see wide open receivers throughout the day, outside of that 1 huge play washington had early on when Bell was trailing the receiver. Elam actually played well!
-Finally, Eberflus started to send James on the blitz, which reportedly was his best trait at Florida. He ended the game with that sack on Daniels.
-Thought Clowney, Bland had terrific games, making several plays.

Special Teams

-Audrey is a machine, another long FG.
-Washington came in as one of the best special teams in the league, they didn't disappoint. Great punt that led to a safety, several long kickoff returns.

I will keep on standing on the table for adding pieces at the deadline. This defense just needs to be average to give this team a real chance to contend. I am fully confident this offense can put points on any defense. Next week is their biggest test as Denver has a top 2 defense.

Change is inevitable
And I was happy to see that the defensive coordinator was willing to do it
And we even have more talent coming back
. A couple of rookies played yesterday I don’t even know their names the one that got the SACK
Blue looked really good taking it to the outside
Bland, well we know he’s a good corner better and then slot
Colony finally came to play
And how can you not love the receiving core,
Prescott, absolutely brilliant
I feel bad for those that quit already

I can mostly agree, but receivers were definitely wide open on several occasions. Thankfully on a lot of those the QB flat out missed them.
I was thinking the same thing throughout most of the game. Daniels missed some wide open WRs on 3rd down even when he had a clean pocket.

Seems like they wanted to stop the run and keep him in the pocket so he couldn't make big plays with his legs.

This offense is going to be trouble for any defense. As long as the OL blocks well, the combination of CeeDee and Pickens, along with Ferguson and Williams is goin to be a problem for defenses. If you add Flournoy and Mingo to the mix they could be almost unstoppable. The one weakness they have I think is their WRs are poor blockers in the run game. The TEs aren't much better. But I think getting Mingo back will help in that regard.

I thought Blue, on that last drive, showed he can be a productive RB. He is really quick once he finds the hole. I think as he gets more experience his vision and confidence will improve and he will look a lot better.

I was disappointed with the play of the OL yesterday. There were times when Dak had a lot of time, but other times I was surprised to see pressure coming at Dak almost immediately. I am not sure what the problems were but that has to get cleaned up.

The defense played much better, but that was a low bar to leap. Bland was excellent yesterday. Elam is clearly better in man coverage too. Murray played better. Mazi got in a few plays and proved to me he is much better than Jay Toia. That's not saying much but he needs to be active over Toia. Clowney also looked much better than he has. He looked quicker and more physical.

The pass rush was bad at times, Daniels had a lot of time to throw and those little 10 yard runs of his were killers at times. I don't know that they have the talent fo fix that stuff, but they can be more disciplined.

Excellent offensive performance especially the turbo quick TD before the half to re-gain that momentum.

Defensively, it appeared as somewhat of an improvement but my eyes told me it was more because it was against backups and missed opportunities by Washington more than anything else.

I'm still way skeptical of this defense.

Very happy for the win. It would have been bad if we lost against a hobbled Washington team.

The Denver game is the first true test. Followed by the Eagles, Chiefs and Lions.

Your last line is completely unnecessary. It's stuff like that that causes the ridiculous spatting that overtakes this site.

Got a few games before that 3 game stretch. Denver is one of the best defenses in the league, stiff test ahead.

More than anything, this was a case of a D being able to shut down a limited QB. We shut down Daniels running and made him pass, and he's only an OK passer. People got so caught up in his running and started praising him for being such a great rook that they glossed over the fact that he only had 3,588 yds passing w/ 25 TDs. Right now, WASH would be better off making him stay in the pocket and throw the ball so he gets better at it. Keep letting him run for over 800 yds, and he's just going to keep getting injured, as well as never learning to beat playoff caliber D's.

-OL has a real tough challenge next week against a real good front, in a hostile environment.
-If you can stop the run and take away those big passing plays, you have a chance. Good game, but it was geared to make them look good without their wideouts.
-In my opinion, if they are going to make 1 big move, it has to be for an edge rusher. Linebacker/Safety still worries me a ton, but they need that pass rusher desperately.

Dont agree
The main reason was their top 3 WRs were out
Yes we ‘adjusted’ but when you play man against a mobile QB he will gash you. Daniels couldnt do that because his passing game was shut down so we could key on the run and the QB
Denver is going to show us next week

What stood out to me was they played faster with more energy and confidence. But they still needs a high-level MLBer as a QB.

Hawk, we cannot waste this offense. Have to become major players on the trade market!!
We have 2, maybe 3 years (max) before wwe to start breaking it up.........THIS is why want a mix of both couple of high level vets AND young rookie studs.

For example, lets say we use all 6 high picks draft top rookies over the next 2 year.......what are the odds ALL 6 will have imediate impact within 2 years. All I am saying is bringing a couple of vets WE KNOW will hit the ground running.

You nailed your game review except for the trade part at the end. I just think the price for some of these players is just too much to pay. The Cowboys need to rely on the development of EZE and James. Bebe, Overshown, and Revel should be back by Veterans Day. I am scared to death Jerry will trade a premium pick for a bad teams overrated JAG. These next two games are pivotal and winnable.

You need a mix of veterans to help the young players along. We have no idea what the price are for some of these players, usually price falls when teams want to get something in return.
