In the age of the Internet, you can find good singers who aren't well known. Here's one I like, Caroline Peysson. She's from France. I stumbled upon her when I was reading about an organization that wants to change the lyrics of the French national anthem. They had her sing the proposed new lyrics.

Here's a song by her that I think is cool named "Là ou Ailleurs" (Here or Elsewhere). It sounds like a country song, but it's in French. Makes for an unusual combination, but I like it:

And if you want to hear her rendition of the French National Anthem with the alternative lyrics, here that is:

Your turn. Post a song by a singer who's good, but isn't well known.

She needs to enunciate...I couldn't understand a word of it!

There have been many versions of "I Will Follow Him"... I think her's is the best. Just a terrific voice.

Relatively unknown in the states she was a superstar in Belgium and Holland in the 80's.

Her version of "I Will Follow Him" was #1 over there in '82.

And here's her doing the song recently...

Ladies first...

Mia Doi Todd -- "What If We Do"
Can veer toward more experimental musically, so not every song is a great showcase for her voice but when she keeps it simple her voice is super.

Johanna and Klara Söderberg aka First Aid Kit -- "America (Paul Simon)" and "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song (Fleet Foxes)"
Sisters from Sweden. Holy wow I love their voices together. They have great taste in covers too.

Sharon Van Etten -- "Peace Signs" and "I Wish I Knew"
People have probably heard of her but just in case. More celebrated as a songwriter but I think her voice is really underrated.
