Three Ways Gregory Gets Re-Instated

I can see three lines of argument that gets Gregory back to playing football with a star on his helmet. Three approaches to woo that goon Goodell.

1. Marijuana is legalized in an increasing number of states and the league should approach it like the NBA: laissez faire. Chill. Go hard line on other drugs but not weed. Jerry has argued this to the league.

2. If argument #1 isn’t compelling for Goodell, Roger could consider medical exemptions. Medical marijuana is prescribed for some conditions and some respected institutions* have advocated cannibus for bipolar condition, which some believe Gregory may suffer from. (*Sinai School of Medicine for one)

3. Gregory is clean. Reportedly hasn’t had a negative result in some time

You guys who are planning on Gregory becoming a fixture on our DL are setting yourself up for disappointment. Even if he can stay clean he has been out of football for some time AND he has other issues because of his bipolar disorder.

Trying to keep Gregory on the right path will be much like herding cats. It's not very effective.

Ex-players have estimated that 50% of players smoke.

One guy who smokes with less care in getting caught...who might have medical cause to take it...should be singled out?

Yeah. If he's an idiot. Why not?

2+3. Gregory was a known addict at the time of the draft. If they're not going to accept addicts after they've gotten clean, they shouldn't allow them in the draft in the first place.

Do you have bi-polar. Know anyone that does?

I had an old girl friend who was bi-polar. She later became a mom. I can say this: both her and her parenting would be best served w/medical marijuana.

When she was “up” mode she would take crazy risks...when she was down mode she was suicidal.

Again at least two well-regarded national medical studies have shown that some folks with mental conditions are better functioning w/canibus.

That **** never goes away. I'm not saying marijuana wouldn't help him. I'm saying he is always going to be a problem child. See also: Owens, Terrell.

The fact that Gregory hasn't had a weed incident in 2 years should be enough, in and of itself, for Goodell to reinstate him.

I lean to doubting Roger Goodell would be open minded enough about marijuana use to welcome any new rationalization.

T.O. Was a cancer. I’ve heard nothing to suggest Gregory is divisive with players or undermines the coaches.

Just because you are bi-polar doesn't give you the right to smoke pot if it's not legal.
If a doctor comes to the conclusion that medical marijuana is needed they can prescribe it or if it's not a medical marijuana state the doctor can prescribe something else,
Being stoned doesn't mean the bi-polar issue is solved.

It’s not illegal when it’s prescribed by a doctor. Some particulars vary state to state.

There is no cure for bi-polar...it’s prescribed to manage the symptoms. (Most medicines don’t ‘fix’ anything...just treat symptoms)

There was another dude on the Cowboys with bi-polar disorder. Pretty good player. Ironically, he also wore #94.

He was pretty hard to manage as well, and that was before the days of social media.
