Throw it deep!

What a ridiculous statement. Go look at Dak's history. Most of his seasons, he has made his best throws and accuracy throwing deep. This year's problem is we simply don't have the speed and height to throw deep consistently, plus our Oline keeps struggling to give Dak enough time on deep routes called.

Pipe down, Dak apologist. What I say is true. When I say deep ball, I'm talking more than the measly 20 yard metric most of the stat guys use. I'm talking take the top off the defense deep ball. It's a great weapon if you have it and Dak doesn't. So they don't try it often just like fans and announcers have been saying for years. That makes the defense's job easier since they don't have to worry about it as much.

Part of the problem is this team refuses to attack the outside of the field, almost everything is in the middle of the field.

On the final drive, Dak hit 2 big throws to the outside of the field, one to Gallup behind the corner and in front of the safety and the other was a corner route to Brown.

Nice observation. Did you see the Houston Lb just stay in the middle of the field and jump as high as he could to tip Prescott passes or make the throws a lot harder. So, what does Mr. Fix it Moore do? Continue to throw middle passes:huh::facepalm:

What kind passing game is this???? Get 1/1 matchups and go deep. So boring and vanilla. Not winning anything with these plays. Get the ball to play makers in space!!!! Call better plays!!!!!
You cannot do that versus a 4-3 cover 2 defense that Lovie Smith will run until he dies.

You can’t really throw deep balls against cover 2.

Also - who are we throwing it deep to? Outside of Lamb we have no one that consistently separate, let alone a speed threat.

On passes that travel more than 10 yards, Dak has 5 TDs and 8 INTs.

That’s just not playing to the strengths of this offense. One of the reasons Rush was successful was because the offense is built to benefit from his limited abilities as a passer. Passing to the sticks, short yardage slants and HB options, wheel routes, dig routes and comebackers.

Gallup is coming back from injury, no one believes he’s 100% yet. CeeDee is having a strong year, but his skills equate to a more dominant slot player than a downfield outside guy like Gallup. Your franchise tight end when healthy has a special connection with Dak. And your RB duo may be the premier skill group on your team, both in the run game and the pass game with Pollard specifically.

Dallas has huge offensive advantages over many teams in the league; downfield passing is not one of the stronger ones. Do what has been winning you football games, not what is flashier.

The offense was terrible under Rush production wise. We were near the bottom of the league in most categories. I think people get too blinded by the record we had, which was all defense. The offense has absolute zero chance to have a big booming game under Rush.

Dak can't throw it deep - he missed Gallup and Brown against the Texans

Ok. Thanks for the clarification, Dak hater. Truly appreciate it. Had you been more clear the first time around, one wouldn't misconstrue what you were trying to say.

In a thread, where the title is "Throw it Deep," I wouldn't think clarification is needed. Who thinks "20 Yards" when someone says to throw it deep?

As an aside, I'll never forget the time on here when I was called both a Dak hater and a Dak excuse-maker lover in the same week. You're doing something right when both sides want to yap at you.

I'm not sure we trust Dak's arm strength and accuracy unless there is absolute separation between the WR and DB.

This is Prescot in a nutshell, he won't throw deep because he SUCKS at it. DCs give him that play every down, but the TOAD HUNTER won't throw the ball because it's not even in the same zip code when it comes down!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, Houston ran zone all game with great LB drops because they weren’t respecting the run. Every defender had his eyes in the backfield and came hard vs the run or pass. Tight coverage and they were not playing man to man. Second, the pass protection wasn’t excellent. Even when the pocket was there, guys were being driven back to where the QB was crowded and rushed. You can’t throw deep when the defense plays an excellent zone.

Ridiculous comments on what DCs give, not at all true. Teams that play lots of man coverage give you a chance to go deep. Breakdowns in zone sometimes give you a chance to go deep. Dak’s rookie year he made his bones going deep to Dez. Fans hated Garrett’s vertical passing game and wanted more west coast stuff. Now they have Moore throwing shorter stuff and still not happy. If anything, Dak throws deep and aggressively too often. Whenever he sees a wr in man coverage, he attacks it. Let’s all accept that Dak had a very bad game and not rewrite history because of it.
