1. #9. Dallas trades down...to Miami for #15, #79, and #110. I also see us trading a future pick like next years 4th rounder or Marion Barber, depending on CBA status on draft day.
1. #15. Tyron Smith OT USC.
Smith fits in great after the run on pass rushers by teams in the first dozen picks, plus we get an additional 3rd and 4th. Smith can either sit on the bench behind Columbo, and be the swing tackle, also making Alex Barron expendable, or start at RT if Columbo is let go.
2. #40. Brandon Harris CB Da U.
He might not last this long come draft day, but going with a CB or 3-4 Dlineman here you cannot do so wrong because of the depth at both positions in this tier, Heyward, Nevis, and Paea would be great picks here too. Harris isn't a quality press corner, but he can play man CB as good as anyone not named Peterson in this draft IMO. Being measured at 5-9.5 at the combine will push him down, but the kid can cover without a doubt.
3a. #71. Deunta Williams S UNC.
Williams might not last this long either, but the broken tibula will keep him from going as high as he was able to before the injury obviously. With the extra 3rd rounder, I don't have any complaints with him sitting, but we still need another safety if we aren't going to offer Sensabaugh a deal here.
3b. #79 (from Miami) Jerrell Powe NT Mississippi.
Cannot believe he falls, but conditioning issues causes him to start to slip, but, he can step in for Rat at NT and we can move and rotate everybody on the Dline. The more fresh bodies the better, and this man can definitely demand a double team if he is fresh.
4a. #109. Kelvin Sheppard LB LSU.
Another 4th round LB from LSU? Hellyeah. Inside thumper who can sit behind Lee/James and wait to take over for James in a year or two. Might be a little high for him, but he still does nothing but make tackles, he can be a little slow in reacting to playaction and he is a little too stiff to be a cover guy right away.
4b. #110 (from Miami) Marcus Gilchrist DB Clemson.
Mayock opened my eyes to this guy. He is at the ball all the time and yes, I know they were harping that he only has one interception in his college career, but he can be a CB or S, whatever we need him to be.
5. #140. Armon Binns WR Cinn.
A talented, but inconsistant prospect. hopefully can beat out Holley and Johnson for a spot as the no. 4 or 5 and eventually possibly become a no.3 behind "Austin Miles" and Dez.
6. #171 Daniel Kilgore OG Appalachian St.
Developmental backup Olineman with a fiery attitude and a play to the whistle motor. Needs some technique work, but here's to hoping he can become a good backup who stays healthy moreso than Montrae Holland.
7. #209 Shiloh Keo S Idaho.
Developmental Special Teamer who gives it all regardless of the score and got my attention by laying out for a ball at the combine today! We always need someone from Hawaiian or Samoan heritage on this team!
UDFA's:
Greg McElroy QB (For Hos)
Damien Berry RB Miami
Colin McCarthy LB Miami
Michael Janac DE Marshall
Ross Homan LB Ohio State
Andrew Rich BYU
These UDFA's might not have any measurables but they all play football with a 110% motor.
