Thumbs up on the "spike"

When Roethlisberger was getting his offense up to the line to "spike" he gave a thumbs up in addition to the spike sign. I yelled at the TV loud enough for our defense to hear me that they were going to fake it. They completely ignored me.

Did anyone else see that?

I saw it too. Defense should be ready for anything there but should all be watching for hand signals like that. It's the usual giveaway.

Everyone but McFadden was fooled on our defense. I don't blame McFadden, he had good coverage, but good coverage isn't enough against the best WR in the game. Plus a perfect throw doesn't hurt either.

I didn't see that. I just knew it was going to be a fake because it didn't make a lot of sense to waste a down there.

That play should be banned from the game.
It's violates the nature of the game on a give up play. Now defenses will run at Rapesherburger when they are spiking it and he will cry like a baby while the ref throws a flag.

A fake kneel down or spike is cheap and can cause injuries when defenses start to run at the offense because they don't know if they will fake it or really kneel or spike.
