If the ball doesn't start coming (soon and often) to Roy Williams, we can look forward to a year of RW in a funk.
Saracastic, self-putdowns by RW.
Feeling sorry for himself. etc.
Sensing a Romo-Witten conspiracy.

Some of you will say "it's too early" "or he'll get the ball soon and he'll be fine" or "Garrett will get him into the game plan in a big way." (I hope you are right)
And, yes, RW said the right thing in saying he was not criticizing Romo and that he remains confident in Romo. But that is the diplomatic spin, naturally.

But I don't think RW will be part of the Cowboys game as much as he wants. Or expects.

Why?

Garrett knows that the ground game is a good one.
And he knows that more runs equate to fewer aerials blunders by Romo.
And just as important, there are other talented receivers to share the ball.

Thus, the beginning of RW's winter of discontent.

I will be returning to this theme as the weeks go by.
This player, barring some miraculous change of strategy to go consistently to him (more than Witten and at the expense of Felix and MB and Choice)
will become more and more frustrated.

And that's too bad. He could become a big asset: as a decoy and the occasion long-ball receiver like in the first game.
But he came here thinking he'd be the next T.O. He's correct. He will be the next T.O. -- the unhappy T.O.

:(

Disagree with article.

Any player that has any self-confidence at a position like WR or RB, wants the ball. They are all a little frustrated if they don't get to shine and make plays. The are more frustrated if they are losing.

BUT, one thing I think the franchise did learn from last season, is that FORCING the ball to one player is a recipe for making things easier for the opponent, hurts the development of your QB and other players, and is somewhat of a recipe for longrun disaster for the team and for the expectant player.

Throw it to the guy that is open. Run it if the run is there, pass it if the pass is there. Win the football game. The critics will shut up if we make the playoffs and Roy Williams has 400 yards. Who cares! Stats are for us fantasy guys and us armchair QB's. Fans want to win, and if guys are contributing and not distracting, that is just fine.

I disagree with Garrett knowing anything about how good the ground game is and wanting to use it or anything like that. If he knew how good the ground game was we would be sitting here at 2-0.

Roy Williams couldn't duplicate the mindset of Terrell Owens even if he had Owens' brain surgically implanted into his skull. Could Williams become disenchanted at some point during the season? Certainly. Could he potentially vocalize his negativity publicly? Absolutely.

Could he ever approach the heights of Owens' well-documented nonsense which he has demonstrated much of his career? Nope. Very few players who have played in the NFL ever have. That sort of transformation would be greater than what one would compare with, say, Jekyll to Hyde, and more along the lines of Pee Wee Herman to Paul Reubens.

Hopefully, people will not confuse the complaining of the average NFL player with that of typical Terrell Owens histrionic outbursts. There is a marked difference between the two.

You do realize that without the threat of a passing game, the running game does not work right? You do realize that we ran for over 250 yards on the Giants right?

Never has the title of a mediocre book (or the suburb opening line of a Shakespeare play, as you are most comfortable) been so inartfully referenced.

Now is the winter of our discontent/Made glorious summer by this sun of Wisconsin/And all the clouds that lour'd upon our team/In the deep bosom of Jerry's Stadium buried.

Hey man, if you're going to reference National Lampoon, I'm all over that as well.

It's not a grade they like to give out.

It's gonna be pretty cute to see how the BWBN (brain washed brown nosers) spin this to deflate the fact that Wide Receivers complain in general when they don't get the ball, it's just that some are Super Talents, and others are just guys.

Keep dreaming of the day a player doesn't complain about getting the ball when they think they can help the team.

that's why I can't stand the wr position in general anymore. I like a few wrs that you could count on 1 hand in the league.

Roy Williams wants the ball in his hands, if he said otherwise then people would be down his throat too... Seriously folks.

So to summarize, this guy is going to go ahead and start criticizing Roy uno uno for things that he hasn't said yet, and continue to do so every week until he says something worthy of criticism, at which point he will let us all know that he was right all along. And if Roy does manage to have a productive year in which he doesn't complain, then what?

I am sorry but you have been proven wrong already.

Last year, Roy threw Romo under the bus twice last year. "I ain't the one throwing the ball" and another comment that slips my mind.

He could definitely starts some "stuff".

I don't blame Roy. between Garrett and Romo he wasn't properly used.
