If the ball doesn't start coming (soon and often) to Roy Williams, we can look forward to a year of RW in a funk.
Saracastic, self-putdowns by RW.
Feeling sorry for himself. etc.
Sensing a Romo-Witten conspiracy.
Some of you will say "it's too early" "or he'll get the ball soon and he'll be fine" or "Garrett will get him into the game plan in a big way." (I hope you are right)
And, yes, RW said the right thing in saying he was not criticizing Romo and that he remains confident in Romo. But that is the diplomatic spin, naturally.
But I don't think RW will be part of the Cowboys game as much as he wants. Or expects.
Why?
Garrett knows that the ground game is a good one.
And he knows that more runs equate to fewer aerials blunders by Romo.
And just as important, there are other talented receivers to share the ball.
Thus, the beginning of RW's winter of discontent.
I will be returning to this theme as the weeks go by.
This player, barring some miraculous change of strategy to go consistently to him (more than Witten and at the expense of Felix and MB and Choice)
will become more and more frustrated.
And that's too bad. He could become a big asset: as a decoy and the occasion long-ball receiver like in the first game.
But he came here thinking he'd be the next T.O. He's correct. He will be the next T.O. -- the unhappy T.O.
