For those worry about Free/Green, learned an interesting fact today about 6th rounder TE Rico Gathers.

Rico Gathers is playing OT for the scout team to learn to block...
He is 280lb, runs 4.65 40 and is quite nimble on his feet.
He is pretty good a catching the ball, but is focused on learning to block and route runnnig now.

If he does not work out at TE, may have a future at OT.
Should be nimble enough to play LT but would need 30 pounds of muscle though.

Look at his amazing catch and run

Yeah, Broaddus has said that he's heard good things about Rico. His blocking has improved a lot.

Rico is also is getting paid a roster salary like Leary did on the practice squad as a rookie.

interesting thanks.
would be curious how cam chancellor would take down a 280lb running a 4.65 at him...

Just 30 pounds of muscle........OK

Here is a comp Eric Green former 1st round pick of Steeler back in 90's.
Eric was 280lbs and 6-5 and ran a 4.7.
In a video of college play, Eric looks heavier than Rico but at the same weight.

Rico looks like he can add a lot more weight than though even he is already 280.
Imagine a 300lb TE running a 4.8 40 lol
Green seems to catch the ball more naturally though...

besides leary, have the cowboys paid any other practice squad player full salary?

actually he looks much trimmer than Eric Green at the same weight but 3 inches taller.
looks like his frame can easily carry 15 pounds, which would take him to 295lb.
i think the smallest nfl ot is ~300lbs.

Called this a long time ago, mainly because he is 280 lbs and very lean. He could easily add 20 pounds and play tackle, if he shows a feel for the position. Jermey Parnell was a college basketball player who was first tried at defensive line before moving to the o line.

He said in a video that he would play TE or DE if he would play football.
Rico collected a Baylor school record 28 rebounds in a game.

Here is another long video showing how he pulls down rebounds in the crowd.
