Tie Breaker question

If Philly goes 4-1 from here on out with their only loss being to the Giants, they will be 11-5, 4-2 in the division and 8-4 in the conference

If we go 3-2 from here on out and lose to NO & Philly, we'll be 11-5, 4-2 in the division and 9-3 in the conference.

Assuming I didn't screw up somewhere (correct me if I'm wrong), who wins the NFC East in this scenario?

Is it the conference record that is the deciding tie breaker and under my scenario and Dallas would win the division?

Yep. I've never agreed with the final tie breaker being a coin toss though. Just doesn't seem right somehow. I'd be more for, say, a winning-team take all in a match of Your Best against Our Best in an arm-wrestling match :D:fight:

Looks like common games comes in after division record. I'll leave it to you to puzzle out how that one shakes out.

If Philly wins out and we lose to both the Chargers and Saints, we'd each be 5-3 in the non-conference common games.

It would then go to the next tiebreaker, which is the record against teams within the conference, where we'd have the advantage (assuming the original post is correct).

i think it comes down points scored and allowed, for the tie breaker scenario. In that case! In other words, if you tie each other in your own conference, nfc games, and afc games, then it goes down to head to head points allowed and gained, best I remember, but dont quote me on that. If that is a tie, then comes down to a coin flip i think,

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.
Two Clubs
  1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
  4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  5. Strength of victory.
  6. Strength of schedule.
  7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
  9. Best net points in common games.
  10. Best net points in all games.
  11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
  12. Coin toss

Ok, Cowboys, why don't y'all make it easy on us fans and not lose another game until preseason 2010

OK?

Thx!

You're right. It's common games then conference record after head to head then division.

EDIT: Oops. I was doing this and got distracted. Seems there have been a number of answers since then. My bad.

What, and cause another meltdown at Cowboyszone?

How about they do us a real favor and never lose again?
