Is Joe Thomas supposed to be a tier 2 free agent?
We are supposed to sign 2 of those this week?

I presume the fullback does not count because it was a trade...

Probably counts in the FO minds.

Thomas is just a veteran signing for depth. Much like the signings every team does in January & February, signing marginal players to futures contracts that become valid when the new league year starts in March. Thomas got a small signing bonus, but no guarantee he'll make the team.

As for the time he spent on the Cowboys practice squad in 2015, he was only in Dallas for two weeks during the season before the Packers signed him - much like how the Cowboys signed David Irving off the Chiefs PS three weeks into the 2015 season. Thomas was actually originally signed by the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2014, but didn't make the team. Then Dallas signed him to their PS in 2015, before the Packers decided they wanted him back.

2 years / 4,5 Million $ seems steep for a guy with that less production.

Let's face it. It's becoming increasingly obvious that the Cowboys simply aren't an attractive target for vet free agents the way they once were.

The vet FAs worth having generally look to the more successful teams who also pay the most for their services. Unfortunately, Dallas no longer qualifies for those FAs who are really worth having these days.

Vet FA increasingly becomes an exercise in futility for the Dallas FO at present -- sad but true. Our FO will likely be settling for the tier 3 leftovers until such time as they manage to restore their desirability. It's a process (and a long, tedious one at that.)

Right now this team isn't getting better

You can't expect this team to get better. Even if we could acquire some better FA, we are stuck with our
inept Clapper and coaching staff for another year. Why try to improve when we are hamstrung with the Clapper's
process. Losing is becoming the norm for the Cowboys organization. Jerry is getting rich in Frisco with his Star,
why worry about a declining NFL football team.

They are, at least, showing signs now of wanting to escape the rut they have carved out for themselves but it's now simply too doggone deep to extricate themselves from it without some amazing changes taking place. They're paying a high price for their incompetency. It's extremely questionable, to say the least, whether or not they'll ever manage to see the forest for the trees. For one, I'm not counting on it anytime soon. A miraculous turnaround beckons but who will answer?

I really hate to admit to myself that this team I have followed since the beginning in 1960 has fallen so far and to possibly see itself decline
to the Cleveland's of the NFL. They have made so many errors that it is going to take another decade to dig out. At some point, you just have to blow the enterprise up into pieces and rebuild from the ground up. My heart tells me that until this ownership is removed by the NFL owners, nothing much can or will change.

Oh noes, our 7th round comp pick from Cooper is gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude is special teamer with limited defensive playing time in a 3-4.

Read he was used as a coverage LB for the Pack.

I'm looking for Jerry to make a splash on draft day in front of the home crowd. With the draft being in Dallas, the spotlight will be right where he wants it............on him.

The war room is probably going to be on the 50 yard line with him working the phones on the giant screens. He's probably hiring a director to get the most dramatic camera angles. There is just no way Jerry isn't going to milk this draft.
