Reason why for the players

1- Andre Carter led the nation in sacks in 2021 with. 15.5 sacks. Also being from Army ,he has outstanding character and leadership traits to be our defensive locker room leader.

2- Calijah Kancey- The guy is a wrecking ball who has ran a 4.69 forty. Very similar to Pitt & NFL star Aaron McDonald.

3- Devon Achane- Arguably the fastest player in college football. Track sprinter.

4- Grant Gibson- Big,strong and a fundamentally sound football player. Better athlete than Biadiaz at Center

5- McClendon Curtis- huge at 6-6,330 lbs but also very smart 4.0 GPA. Teammate with Pats 1st round pick Cole Strange.

6- Zack Kuntz- Tall at 6-8,260 lbs also runs well 4.59 forty.

7- David Durden- Small college surprise runs a 4.39 forty.

Has Carter playing status for 2023 been determined as far as military commitments? Oh and I think they draft for need like usual which would mean offense.

Yea, does Army allow deferments?

I know a few guys each year get rejected and some accepted post draft. Would like to have that squared away before taking a guy that high.

Lawrence, Armstrong, Sam Williams, Goulston and increasingly more snaps for Parsons. I find it highly unlikely they even sniff at the DE position before the 5th round, with the gaping holes on offense. Guessing WR, Gaurd, and TE, depending on what happens with Shultz get pigeon holed into the first 3 or 4 rounds!

Armstrongs contract expires next year and Ghoulson hasn’t shown anything more than being a backup.

If a quality 1st round DE is best available then Id take him in a heartbeat. Parsons should not be an every down DE - he isn’t built for it and long term probably don’t want him taking that beating.

Would love to see more Williams this year to know what we have in him.

Keep in mind there were multiple plays 3rd and long where we had 4 DEs on the field rushing against the Bengals and it was our best pass rush.

I’m not saying what I think they should or shouldn’t do… I’m saying this is highly unlikely. Ghoulston was picked to be the backup at the 5t. Williams is being given a developmental season. Lawrence and Armstrong both have at least one more year. Parsons is going to get a lot of snaps at end. Unless a top 5 player falls to wherever they pick… I don’t see them going this direction. As things stand I’m guessing it’s at least 80% they go WR…even if they have to reach!

Reaching for a WR over a top DE would be an awful move IMO.

I think the WR room will be fine once Gallup returns and we get Tolbert on the field.

If we’re picking close to the top 10 the DE class is looking much stronger than the WR class.
