Time for Lawrence to step up

The excuse some were making for him was the same we used to make for Ware, he's got no help. Well, Quinn has arrived and is more worrisome than Lawrence to an OC and QB so the time is now for Lawrence to take Rodgers out of his game.

I didn't say time for him to earn his money because that's a rather ridiculous assumption that paying him more makes him a better player. I just want him to be the same player he was when the OC and QB had to account for him and alter some of the things they wanted to do.

Demarcus Lawrence is the best D player on the team and it is time for him to show that because time is what Rodgers buys better than any QB in the game. He will miss Adams just like he misses Cobb but he's as good a spread the ball around QB as there is and it is time for Lawrence to announce his presence.

Good luck
The worst thing you can do as an organization is pay a non elite player elite money

DLaw needs to step up and do his part to ensure that Rodgers doesn't have a clean pocket and all day to throw on Sunday.

I wouldn't say a waste of money but based on production, overpaid. The rap on him has been he's really good the first 12 games but when crunch time and the playoffs arrive, he's a ghost. maybe that reverses this year because he's still a very talented DL, the best the Cowboys have.

He hasn't played a frontline QB this season, this next game is the first and he will be critical to the performance of the D against this QB.
We know how good he is, he's shown that.
I criticize him for waiting to get surgery, but that's business and some fans can't understand that. He'll get better.

I'd be interested to see how many double/triple teamed game to game.

Also, he's been disruptive, we need to look deeper than just sacks.

100 million .

So that means he doesn't have to live up to his contract because he had two good years?
Pretty much, he doesn't have to do anything with 65 million guaranteed. Don't get me wrong, I want him to play great, but when people start saying " he better", my question is, " or what?" Cut him? Let him take his money and go home? Lol!!

He already stepped up, that's why he got paid.
Define “stepped up”. Does it consist of doing nothing over the final 8-9 games and then talking out your *** about stealing souls then getting shut out like a chump?

This is one reason I wasn’t sure about paying him. He held out getting his shoulder surgery until we paid him. His rehab and healing are spilling over into regular season games. Further into the season than I thought.

He is either doubled every play or not healed up completely or laying back now that he got paid and getting that guaranteed money.

Or maybe just not elite even all healed and tuned up. 10.5 sacks over 18 games last season. Good but not great DE.

We made our bed.

Lol!!! Whatever floats your boat

I get what you are saying. If that's his mindset he has some issues....Better pay means you should do more. Not less.

I'm wondering if the no off-season/preseason has played a part in some of what we are seeing with Lawrence. The fact that he wasnt in on a portion of the last drive when you desperately need your best player to step up and change the game, seems like there is more to it.

Im not making an excuse for him, especially considering when you get paid the way he did you expect him to be the difference maker hes paid to be, but just wondering if his conditioning isn't what it should be.

Also, I dont have the numbers in front of me but it really seemed to me that Bridgewater was throwing quick short routes for the most part to help negate our pass rush. Smith and Quinn and maybe Maliek Collins? Had sacks in the game so the pressure did get there at times. I'm not letting Lawrence off the hook but if we do get to Bridgewater for 3 or 4 sacks and hold them out of the endzone, the defense did hold up their end. If Lawrence continues to be off the stat sheet then maybe there is indeed something bigger to worry about but let's hope it doesn't get to that point.

Just speculation obviously but I'm just hoping this is something that we can get past asap because we need him to be dominant in clutch moments of the game. That's what we are paying him for.

I agree, both Lawrence and Elliott, they were paid to be game changers and I'm not seeing it. Hopefully that changes soon, I'd rather be cheering for them than complaining that they're not earning their money.

Go Cowboys!

Edit, I'll also add that I didn't particularly care for how the both of them went on about their business to secure their contract:mad:

Tank waits to get surgery until he gets a huge contract and then disappears. Elliott skips training camp in order to get a huge contract and isn't earning his money either.

It's looking like these are two players we would have been better off letting walk. Some players you just don't want your team. I don't care how good they are.

Zeke had one bad game. The others he was pretty good. He's made more of an impact than Tank.

Quinn is amazingly still getting single coverage. Dlaw is still getting doubleed.

Maybe someone should tell these DCs that they should leave Dlaw alone since he's trash?
