the cowboys had the ball with under two minutes in the first half. barber ran it out of bounds. the clock stopped. the Commanders then got the ball back and drove it down and into scoring position.

does the coaching staff tell the players to stay in bounds so that the clock keeps moving?

It depends on whether we think we still have a chance to go down and score, but if we have given up on that then the coaches should be telling them to stay in bounds and let the clock run.

Over the last 2 seasons Barber has developed more of a rader for the sideline though, and I'm sure his instincts told him to head that way. Unfortunately he listened too much to Emmitt and others who told him to avoid taking hits in order to extend his career.
