If the goal is to have your best 5 lineman in the game how can Rivera be in there? I understand Proctor is not ready but at this point I think you have to consider moving Andre over to RG and putting Al in at Center.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to screw up 2 positions just to hope you can fix one.

sadly we have to stick with Rivera for the rest of the year... hopefully he at least plays solid and doesnt end up costing us

Are you serious? You want to move our best OL whose only finishing his first full year starting at center over to RG where he didn't play well at all last year (except for Carolina game) and play Al Johnson who constantly gets pushed back into the QB's face on passing downs. I don't think the solution is to weaken 2 OL positions but instead improve our RG position. If Proctor isn't capable of replacing Riveria, then why in the world is he Riveria's backup? Sounds like our starting 5 OL are the OL players we got who can play (heaven help us) and rest are nothing but occuping slots. I'm sure hoping bringing back Riveria isn't even an option in 07--unless to save a cap hit we keep him but as a backup to a legit young RG who we acquire in FA.

On offense, assuming we re-sign Gurode and Colombo, Rivera has to be the main upgrade.

I think the TE, RB, QB, and even the WR positions are good enough right now.

On the first day of the draft I am pro:
Blalock or
Sears or
Grubbs or
Brown

Maybe one these guys will be our RG next year?

I also think there are a couple of decent ones available in FA.

This shouldn't be a difficult position to upgrade, IMO.

i'm hoping we target steinbach from the bengals.

Steinbach is going to want Steve Hutchinson money... or pretty darn close... Betcha he's out of reach. Watch him go to the Cardinals or some other lame team.

I agree, everytime there was a penalty my first thought was Rivera.

Let's not forget that this version of Rivera, even this year's, is nowhere close to what he was in Green Bay and consequently, what Jerry thought he was ponying up the cash for. This seemed to have been a perfect storm of problems for this guy, he had the crippling back injury and then when he recovers from that, age quickly creeped in.

I bet Jerry Jones would take back Rivera's offer from a year ago, about giving back his signing bonus, if he was asked tomorrow.

Rivera needs to retire... Coleman ate his lunch all night long.:banghead:

I'm with ya. He's the weakest link but it's not worth ruin our entire O-line. :banghead:

I'm not sure I see Rivera on our team next year. Might be time to go much younger there.

I agree on Rivera sucking tonight, but I also Gurode miss some key blocks throughout the game tonight.
