There are some whispers that the Cowboys were looking at day 2 WR's at the senior bowl. This suggests something is in the plans pre-free agency, most likely Amari Cooper not coming back. In the Stephen Jones era, he normally has a stop-gap veteran starter and drafts his future replacement. This stop gap starter could even be Michael Gallup on a 1 yr contract. This will allow the team a year of development, before they need to make a decision. Also, CeeDee Lamb's option is up, I believe after the season.

I think there is almost a certainty that a WR will be drafted somewhere within the team's top 3 picks if their board shakes out that way. We already know OL will be the focus. We are going to have to see how free agency shakes out to speculate on the 3rd draft priority, it could be DL, TE, LB or Safety.

I know we don’t draft school players, but we also tend to draft bigger WR’s. Dude has massive upside.

If we cut Cooper this team has no business being talked about as a legit contender next year. Would just be another terrible roster management decision by Jones and co.

This team has been a pretender in the playoffs since mid 90’s. I will never consider them a contender until they go to the NFC Championship game. To be a contender you have to beat top 10 teams on a regular basis and we haven’t done that since the 90’s. Our issue right now is more coaching vs lack of talent.

Whether we get rid of Cooper or not if we draft a WR in the first 3 picks that will just encapsulate the stupidity of this FO. The last couple of years have shown us very very clearly that Dak cannot utilize great WRs to their potential. You’re smoking something if you think a rookie rd 2 WR will create a significant impact in the short run. It is time to build the OL and DL and focus on run game. It’s time for CD to grow up, sign Wilson and Gallup if he’s willing to give a team friendly deal.

we’re not a contender even if we keep Cooper but will be hyped as such because of the NFCE

just watch

The Cowboys need an all purpose tight end before drafting wide receiver. I would also put guard/center (interior), pass rusher, 1 tech, safety, linebacker, running back before I choose a receiver. We have a number 1 in CeeDee and the Stanford kid as a developmental prospect. Just bring back Gallup and Wilson we will be fine.

Fix LG and replace Kellen with a quality OC and I think we’re immediately a contender for the NFC.

Get cute and cut Cooper, Lawrence, keep giving Zeke 20 carries a game and we’ll never get past winning the division.

If the philosophy of the offense is “we’re going to aggressively take what the defense gives us”, which it is, then it’s an OC problem not a QB problem. Teams with 100+ WR’s take the opposite approach. “Here’s our number 1 WR. Here’s what we do. Good luck stopping it.”

Cooper can be replaced. Lawrence can be replaced. The problem is you also have to find a replacement for a bunch of other spots. If they decide to part with both guys I won’t have any issue with it. Especially if it means they can keep a few guys like Kearse, Anger, and Wilson. The heavy lifting will need to be done in the draft.

Don’t disagree, just reading the tea leaves of what is expected by this front office

I agree, but think the cost of keeping both Gallup/Wilson might be as much as keeping Cooper if not more

I just listened to Cavanaugh and it just hit me that the Cowboys have 1 safety under contract that has played in a game and one linebacker in Parsons. If the Cowboys let go of Cooper/Tank we literally would have six holes to replace. Those 2019 through 2021 draft picks need to step up.

I think that’s what Stephen said recently, need the young prospects to take on larger roles

The sad part is as dumb as it would be it wouldn’t surprise me at all…Jerry is the root of the problems.

The OC is a problem but he’s limited by QB also. How many more breakdowns by other QBs do our fans need yo watch before they grasp that Dak cannot read defences, can’t throw with anticipation and throw receivers open and has bad mechanics which all affect his accuracy. He had gotten paid and has absolutely zero incentive to improve. This is who Dak is. Banking on him to take us yo a SB is a fools errand. Not happening. You can put 3 HOF WRs around him and he would find the “problem “ in that offense because it is him
