The OLine is so hard to put my finger on.
Martin is great at RG. That's clear.
Frederick is a great C with more impact then I ever appreciated, but will he be ready for 2019? I can't claim to understand his illness but my impression is that it's very unpredictable in terms of symptoms taking random times to go away and then showing up again 1, 5, 25 years later. Who knows?
Behind him at C we have Looney who I now feel confident in saying is pretty good for a backup but he's not the guy you want starting 16 games on a run-first offense. Sp again we come back to the question of Frederick's availability moving forward.
Our best LG is probably playing RT at the moment, so our next best options are Sua-Filo and Williams. Williams usually gets beat physically and not mentally, and it's well documented that he needs an offseason training program. I feel good about it but there's no guarantee he develops in the offseason. Sua-Filo seems like a good backup to me, not a starter.
So that about covers the interior. I'd feel really good if Frederick returns to normal, Martin continues at RG, Williams develops his size and strength, and Looney and Sua-Filo stay on for depth. I'd feel bad if Frederick can't go and Williams can't grow. It'll probably play out somewhere in the middle but I can't predict where, not yet.
Outside, you've got La'el and Smith. Tyron has longterm health questions and holds some but overall I think he's still gotta be the plan at LT.
I wish they'd swap Collins and Williams right now and spend all offseason training that way but they wont. I don't feel great about Collins at RT but not bad either.
My gut says Frederick will be fine and Williams will improve enough to not be the early season liability he appeared to be. If he bulks up enough to surpass "good enough" in offseason then excellent but otherwise I think his best play is still a year away, which shouldn't be too big of a surprise for a rookie. I think Smith continues right about where he is but he'll look better next year with better and more stable play beside him all year. I think Collins also holds mostly steady.
I think the OLine is a strength of the team next year but not a dominant unit as it recently has been. With our low draft slots and bills to pay elsewhere I don't see us making a move this offseason that could feasibly improve that projection.
