Whenever the Saints needed a quick TD, or needed to convert a long yardage situation, they would often play the ball straight in Roy Williams' direction with a run or a pass. Last week I started a thread saying that we could not afford to have two bad games in a row by R. Williams or we would be in danger of losing to the Saints. I got chastised here for posting this; yet I stand by my words.
Against hte Ginats, R.Willimans couldn't cover or tackle well, and he was too slow getting to the ballcarrier. His poor performance was continued against the Saints (ala 2 bad back-2-back games, and viola, we lost to the Saints, as we almost lost to the Giants).
If you ask me, R.Willimans is our achiles heel on defense. If I'm Parcells, I mught be thinking of only playing R.Williams on running downs in the box, and bringing in Tony Parish on all other downs. The knock on Parish is that he may have lost a step in speed, but the guy was always a sure tackler and good in coverage. I'll take that over his losing a step of speed because R.Willimans is playing too slow as it is. And in that case I'd rather have Parish so I can at least stop worrying if the strong safety will make the tackle or cover the right route. JMHO.
