his kickoffs are horrible. Parcells would have to keep 2 kickers on the roster. not happening.

Maybe we signed Kyle Kosier for kickoffs.

For all the guys saying Vanderjagt can't kickoff. Go look at his stats when he was allowed to kick off, you will see they are about 3 yards shorter than Vinatieri and Longwells

His return against average is 1.5 better than Vinatieri and 1.2 yards better than Longwells

So in reality the "lousy" kickoff guy is givng up about 1.5 yards per kick more than the other guys

Vanderjagt
Career
30-39 = 62 out of 68 (91%)
40-49 = 65 out of 81 (80%)
50+ = 14 our of 21 (67%)

Vinatieri
Career
30-39 = 76 out of 92 (83%)
40-49 = 70 out of 99 (71%)
50+ = 8 out of 17 (47%)

Vanderjagt plays 8 games in the RCA dome every year not counting the playoffs, while Vinatieri kicks on grass at Gillette Stadium 8 times a year. Vinatieri also has to kick in NY and Buffalo at least once a year as well. So, that's 10 games on the East coast and in usually bad weather. Let's not forget, all the playoff games Vinatieri has kicked at Gillette Stadium in the freakin' snow no less.

Factor all that in and Vinatieri is really in a class by himself IMO.

I say this every year, but kicking is 95% mental. Find me a veteran kicker who has missed a last second field goal to lose his team a playoff game who went on to be as successful in the future.

There aren't any out there, at least in recent NFL history.

Vanderj is an all pro kicker. PERIOD

One of the most accurate ever actually. We could do far worse. He's plan B if Adam V decides to leave Dallas today without a contract.

To do nothing you get a Suishem, Cortez guy next year. Or they are bringing Cundiff back.

Agree about VanJack...also agree that it is very important if we are to again play a close to the vest style we have to have a good reliable kicker

Vinatieri might be the best but who is gonna pay Big bucks for a D** kicker!
I'd rather pay Bigdbucks for someone to get 6 points then Bigbucks for 3pts.
The cowboys can not have the mentality to win by a FG, to many D** kickers blew games last year. Does JJ really want to pay millions of dollars to bite his nails and have a D** kicker screw it up. Find someone who can do stats and I bet ya a 2 dollar pistol that more key FG were missed last year then in the last 5. Kickers choke under pressure. Vanderjet missed against Pitt in a big game so what does that say, Just get a consistent kicker

.......................................................................................................
Vinatieri's numbers are much more impressive because he has kicked outside in the BRUTAL New England weather and wind for 12 years.

Vanderjagt is a DOME kicker so his stats SHOULD be better.

That does not mean he is the BETTER kicker....

Vinatieri HANDS DOWN is the better of the 2....

SIGN HIM!
