Time to Simplify

If there is one word I want the franchise to embrace this offseason it is “simplify”.

29 coaches on staff? Nah bruh. Simplify. Clarify roles, responsibilities, and expectations.

MM not happy with the way the offense is performing? Take over, design the offense you believe would be successful, and call the plays yourself. Simplify the playbook and own the offense. “Walk around coaching” hasn’t been enough… so lean into your offensive roots and innovate around your QB.

Dak plays better when we have a great running game. Bring in some talent at RB and beef up the run blocking. Don’t let him get away with “gunslinging”…break him from his habit of wanting to play hero ball.

Get rid of ambiguity. Embrace accountability. Eliminate players that are unproductive from the roster. Be ruthless where you have to, and don’t apologize for demanding excellence from yourself and everyone in the franchise.

Good post. It seems as if Big Mac has seized the initiative to make this his team, his offense, his philosophy, his coaches, etc. I think that’s good. it’s what every HC should have the ability to do.

It also seems the Jones boys have given him more latitude than any other HC since Parcells. Which means it’s also somewhat of an ultimatum to win now. Which I also think is a good thing.

Spend all season crying about how simple the offense is whenever its convenient than rally around the buzzword "Simplify" in the offseason.
1. Simplifying the organizational roles, philosophy, and strategies does NOT equate to basic, predictable, unimaginative play-calling

2. Lombardi would start every season off by holding a football out to his players and saying “gentlemen, THIS is a football”. A focus on fundamentals is ALWAYS the right approach, whether you are dealing with a HOF player or an UDFA rook

3. The game is conceptually simple, and difficult in execution. Find your opponents weak spot, and exploit it. Don’t confuse simple with easy.

The "basic, simple, unimaginative play calling" led to the 2nd most productive offense in the league since 2019 behind only the Chiefs.

What now, fan?

I remember Troy Aikman mentioning that during the 90's Super Bowl run, Norv had basically 5-6 passing plays and they would run variations of them.

You are better than this Risen lol…

Attempting to argue that our offense was awesome is tantamount to saying Dak must be awesome because he was the QB responsible for leading the offense to all that production.

Nice try though “fan” lol

The difference is execution from the trenches to the QB to the RB's, receivers and TE's. So when the QB misfires and tosses the ball behind the receiver or to the defense, it makes no difference if the scheme is simple or complex.

I'm better than thinking the 2nd most productive offense in the league over his four years with the talent he had means the coordinator shouldn't lose his job? That I have to regurgitate nonsensical claims like "basic" and "simple" and "unimaginative" to really understand what's going on?

Despite anything you say, Moore's offense was only out produced by the Chiefs while he was here. That's a fact you can't escape from no matter how many fan labels you want to attach to it.

It's nuts.

Our 140 mil passer can't pass so let's run run run.

Oh wait it's 2 yards and dust. New OC please!!
We only had the 2nd best offense over his time here! With this talent?! Rabble! Rabble! Rabble! Rabble!

We literally changed the best part of the offense. The overachieving coordinator.

12 points in the biggest game of the year. So many people on here want to argue that Prescott has so many inflated garbage time stats. Wouldn’t the same be true for Moore? How can that be the case for the QB but not the OC?

Cuz the OC went 5-1 with the backup.

Wait til you see him with a real franchise QB.

Over 4 years we had the number 2 offense
Some say Dak can’t play
Some say moore sux
It’s really not possible that both are true and gave that good of an offense

His offensive production in the regular season was good— but not good enough.

Not against good defenses, and not nearly good enough in the postseason.

Dak doesn’t need his BFF coddling him anymore. He needs a butt kicker who can get the best out of him— another thing Moore wasn’t good enough at doing.

make the design easier on our offense and harder on the opponents defense. simple as that. hard to implement.

"He needs to just dominate no matter what. 2nd best isn't good enough with all of this talent."

The offense is great if you want to compile statistics. The problem is that it is not repeatable. It breaks down at times and will almost always break down under pressure in critical moments. The 2016 offense was a thing of beauty. A genuinely consistent juggernaut that would beat down opponents. Like everyone else I would love to return to this. Not happening though. You will worship the statistics at all costs.
